ARTIST CONTEST HERE!
WHAT IS AN ESKARIO?
An Eskario is a nature spirit, literally tied to the land it is born in. There are three types, or tribes, of Eskarios- forest, water, and mountain. The three tribes work together to preserve their corner of the world, untainted by humans. From the moment they are born, Eskarios are trained to develop their spiritual connections to the earth and the unique abilities that stem from it.

ABOUT ESKARIOS
( not mandatory reading, but recommended if you're applying for one)
Eskarios are small creatures, making their homes in enclosed, secure places. Adults range from three to three and a half feet tall, usually with the males on the larger side.
Each tribe eats what is easiest to scavenge or prey on. Eskarios are omnivores, consuming both plant and animal matter. Their dens are usually small communities within each tribe, circulating around each family and their companions. There is no clear indication of rank or power within tribes, but natural leaders tend to emerge. Young Eskarios are raised by their parents, but training is a group process, with many adults pitching in with their advice.
Eskario pelts and coloring tend to vary, though there are certain things that are true for every one of them. All Eskarios' base fur colors are natural, providing camouflage in their environment. Their eyes have no pupils and are the same color as their facial markings, both of which glow when the Eskario's life force is tapped into.
The three tribes of Eskarios are vastly similar in personality and populace. Their main difference is where they live, of course. Water Eskarios have gills that restrict them to the chunk of ocean inside Eskario territory, while mountain Eskarios tend to be bulkier and stronger, making their homes amongst the rocky hills. Forest Eskarios usually are a bit slimmer and more agile, climbing trees and scuttling through bushes.
Eskarios, being the strange spirit guardians they are, do not have ordinary abilities. They are each born with a power source inside them, a love and connection to nature so strong that it significantly enhances them. These creatures have lifespans much longer than a human's, averaging 300 years. This greatly differs by how quickly they use up their life source. This life source is a natural magic that causes their eyes and facial markings to glow when used. Life source is eaten up little by little. Anything from a particularly powerful leap to healing a friend's wound causes the markings to glow and the Eskario to get a little older. Some healer Eskarios dedicate their lives to healing others, reducing their lifespans immensely.
What is there to fight against, you might think. Eskario territory has never been touched by humans, safely hidden away. The answer is that others, not only humans, but others, want to claim this sacred corner for themselves. Eskarios are strong beings, but they are constantly struggling against enemies that sneak into their territory. These so-called enemies are anything from a fierce, living vine to a three-headed alligator. It varies immensely, and there are no constants in these battles, just like there are no constants in Eskario life.
Eskarios are born into large groups, often consisting of multiple families. When young, they tend to walk on their hind legs, struggling with stubby front ones and much larger, more powerful back ones. As Eskarios grow up and their front legs lengthen, most switch to walking entirely on four legs, though they occasionally stand on their hind ones for height.
Baby Eskarios overuse their life source frequently, so oblivious to their actions that they exert large amounts through crying and flailing about for attention. Parents are usually very overprotective of their children for this reason, and will go to great lengths to monitor the babies at all times. This is no easy feat, since Eskario litters range from 1-4 babies.
