Sympathy settled on her face as she watched him eat it, and when he stated that it was awful she smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, ragwort's always bad. But it is effective, I promise you." In her lifetime she had only once taken ragwort, as her joints were only painful once so far, but she remembered that it did not suit her tastebuds. She had yet to meet someone who ever truly enjoyed ragwort leaves; and it was unfortunate to her that such a useful herb was so unpleasant. Maybe she would get lucky and find some marigolds or daisy leaves soon; a tastier fix. After he relaxed and bowed, her smile turned more kind than sorry, "Of course, Sparrowheart." She stood back up and shook herself, as a few flakes had caught themselves on her pelt. "If you need anything else, you know where to find me," and then she turned and began walking back to her den.

As she walked, she felt somewhat disoriented. She had gotten up too quickly to process anything, it seemed. Maybe she was getting over her lethargy, but jumping right into things was making her clumsy; in the state of mind way. Her eyes drifted over to the patrol that was heading out, and for some reason she became worried. There was something missing... Something she had forgotten, and she felt like it had to do with the sky when she looked up at the abundance of clouds. Furrowing her brow, she tried to rack her brain, and decided a little food might help her remember. She was also wondering if the sharp taste of mint would be beneficial. Thinking it all over, she grabbed one of the last scrawny mice and continued towards the medicine den, stopping outside the entrance to eat.

Mosspaw frowned as Gingerpelt called Dustpaw away, but then she supposed that it wasn't all that bad. She'd be able to talk to him after he got back, after all, and there were always other cats to chat with. She finished off the remainder of her mouse and rose to her feet, shaking off what snow had collected onto her pelt. Her thick fur might keep her warm, but if she got wet it only meant that it would retain more water. She bounded off back to the medicine cat den, taking note of Silkrot outside of it. "Silkrot!" she called, slowing down as she came up next to the she-cat, "Since everyone's leaving, what'll we be doing today?"

Sparrowheart merely gave a friendly flick of his tail as Silkrot left and began to meander back over to the elder's and queen's den. He watched the patrol as they gathered together, his features softening. Well, looks like they'd be gone for a little while, but hopefully they'd bring back some decent food. The old tom offered a yawn before slipping into the den, curling up on his bed of moss.

Noticing how the patrol seemed to be almost ready, Adderfoot rose to his feet. He glanced down at the apprentice before giving a flick of his tail. "Best get moving, Riverpaw. We'd hate to have you left behind." His voice gave sarcasm, but his body language indicated that he was only joking. He gave a friendly look down to the she-cat before moving closer to the entrance, awaiting for Vertigofur to tell them when to move out.

Lost in thought, she failed to hear her apprentice calling her name. She had only taken the first bite of her mouse when Mosspaw came up to her, and she startled slightly by jerking her head. Smiling when she realized who it was, she swallowed, and spoke, "Well, I think we should try to dig up as many herbs as we can find before the snow sets. I want to show you how you can tell where the herbs are, so stay close to me." She took another bite and swallowed, "And today we'll also test your memory - I'll be counting on you to tell me exactly what we uncover." In her opinion it was a suitable lesson, and with that she took the last bite of her mouse and buried it. It was a very unsatisfactory meal, and she hoped the patrol would bring back good prey. "I'm ready now, are you?" she asked, her mind in many places. Mostly she was focusing on the lesson ahead, but she couldn't shake the feeling she was forgetting something.

Blackpaw sat down at the back of the patrol. He watched Riverpaw as she jumped around all excited to be on patrol. What's so exciting about it? It's just a patrol. Nothing interesting happens.. he thought grimly. His dull, grey eyes scanned the rest of the group. A pretty big group of cats for one patrol. But what did he care? It's not like he had to make conversation with any of them. Bloodysnow stood beside him, her tail straight up in the air and trembling with excitement. She loved going on patrols, seeing as how she never could when she was alive. But she didn't let that bother her. She just enjoyed it while she could.

Riverpaw bounced over to Blackpaw, who looked exactly like Crowsong, Such a Ray of Sunshine. 'Aren't you going to come with us? We're going to be hunting! In The snow!' She waited a moment. 'Just brighten up, you should be happy that you're in the world right now, being able to be loyal to your friends. I get that you probably don't want to be near other cats right now...... I think the cold has gotten into you. If you stay moving, you'll be warm in no time at all.' She purred. Riverpaw crouched next to Blackpaw, close enough for their bodies to touch and heat up. She felt his cold fur. 'You're freezing!' She sounded like a worried mother.

Blackpaw's left ear went back as Riverpaw bounced over. His eyes were wide and his tail twitched. As she spoke his eyes were even more dull than before. When she spoke the word 'friends' and scoffed on the inside. What friends?.. He watched her as she crouched and got close to him. She was warm, and that's what made him realize how cold he was. His pupils went to slits as she touched him and it sent a shiver up his spine, causing him to tremble. He wasn't used to physical contact with other cats. But the warmth felt nice, so he stayed put, flexing his claws. Bloodysnow smiled at Riverpaw and purred. She knew the apprentice couldn't see or hear her though. Good! Maybe she'll get Blackpaw to stop being such a sour puss!

Finally, the cold got a bit too much for him. He stood and immediately gasped in surprise and irritation at the water that had melted on his belly fur. He was half wet and half frozen, as the chill was beginning to freeze the water onto his fur. Frowning, he went off on his own into the apprentice's den and sat down on his nest. Once there he began grooming himself, aware of the sleep that was threatening him. He sighed, wondering if he was getting sick while he cleaned his black and white fur, or if he was still adjusting to his surroundings. After all he had only been in Flareclan for a short amount of time. Most of all, he was embarrassed at himself for not predicting that the snow would melt if he laid down for too long, and obviously though cold his small amount of body heat had been more than enough.

Mosspaw looked a bit concerned as Silkrot explained what today's lesson would be. Her mentor expected her to identify all of them, even when they might be a bit damaged because of snow? She had gotten much better recently at identifying herbs in their dried form, but fresh ones still provided a bit of a challenge, especially since the snow didn't help to keep them healthy. Finally, she gave a small nod. "I guess so." With that, she trotted off to the entrance, slipping through the dead brush. She glanced around outside, the chill a bit more prominent out here, along with the snow being slightly higher. She shook herself off one last time before turning to wait for her mentor.

'Blackpaw....... you're trembling!' Riverpaw exclaimed as she went to the other side of him to warm him up. She soon realised she doesn't often see blackpaw hanging around near other cats. 'Why don't you like being around anyone? It's not like they're carrying some sort of disease. And they aren't going to be mean to you, they're nice, they're part of the clan' Riverpaw stopped when she remembered how much her mother talked into Blaze about how 'River was such a traitor' And it took her a long time to trust her again. Riverpaw remembered how much her heart sand when Blazepaw watched as Riverpaw got her name but She didn't because she was still recovering as a loner. Now her whole personality has changed and she doesn't really speak much now.
