So, anyone else heard about Mega Evolutions in X & Y yet?

I have. *Apparently* it's only a temporary battle thing. Or something.

They have to be holding a special item that are only available through events because they can't be found in-game and yeah it only happens in battle. There is actually a new X and Y trailer showing what it looks like when they change form, it looks pretty cool. I like all of them so far but Mega Amphy is my favorite at the moment dat hair......

Yes, they need to hold a special item and use a certain move to temporarily gain the form. Also, Mawile and MegaMawile are both now Fairy/Steel type. And, apparently, MegaAmpharos changes to being Electric/Dragon (though regular Ampharos is still just Electric type).

I think the specific stone varies from Pokemon to Pokemon. Like, serebii says that Blazekin needs "Blazikenite" and Lucario needs "Lucarionite". Though Mega Stone probably is the classification for all of them.
