basically people were buying gems and not getting them, the money was deducted from paypal but they never recived the gems. same with trading. gems would get lost in the mail

I think the bug is something else. I'm looking at the facebook and tumblr posts and looks like the bug duplicates gems. And some people knew about this and were using this bug to get a lot of gems.
