Jack sighed, putting his arm around Cecilie.

Luke smiled and watched her.

Cecilie leaned into him and looked up at the kids as they came in. "Sit down," she said quietly in French, gesturing to the floor in front of her.

Kristyna smiled, and kissed his neck.

Jack sighed, watching the kids as he held Cecilie's hand tightly.

Luke smiled and tipped his head to the side, closing his eyes.

Cecilie watched as the kids sat down. Before they could say anything, she blurted, "Jack is going back to the army." The kids sat there in stunned silence. Emmy was the first to break the spell. "Why?"

"Do you like that?" she asked, noticing his reaction.

Jack sighed. "I was always in the army," he corrected. "They need me to go fight," he told the kids.

Luke nodded, making a happy noise in the back of his throat to answer.

Cecilie squeezed his hand gently.

Emma's jaw dropped open. "But..."

Kristyna giggled, kissing his neck again.

Jack sighed. "And I have to go. I leave in a month, and I'll be gone anywhere from 6 months to a year, maybe longer," he told them.

Luke smiled to himself. "Mm," he murmured.

Cecilie winced and turned, burying her face in his shoulder.

"But Jack, you can't go," Emmy whispered.

Kris stopped, chuckling.

Jack rubbed Cecilie's hand. "I'm so sorry, guys. I wish I didn't have to go but I do."

"Aw," he said playfully as she stopped.

Without a word, Emmy stood and walked away. A door slam was heard a few minutes later, causing Cecilie to wince.

Oliver bit his lip. "Why do you have to? You and Cece are gonna get married."
