for those who suggested other categories - we are planning on expanding the oekaki boards very soon and will add a few other boards at that time. Those new boards will possibly include:

comics board (for the multi panel/multi pic storylines) - possibly in a format like "Editables/Colored in" so people can post their cover pics in the main board and then have all their comic pages displayed underneath so that they're easy for people to find

art help/tips/redlines board - also possibly connected to a "colored-in" board so people who edit to "redline" (draw corrections on) images can post their redlines in that board

weekly challenge board which will have a suggested theme for everyone to draw, just for fun (e.g. "everyone draw yourself/your fursona as a chicken") (all levels welcome, it won't be split like our general boards)

and possibly a gift lines board to clear up all of those duplicate "only my friends can edit" oekakis

....yeepp

we're expecting these new boards to be introduced before the end of this month :)

Oh my. This is absolutely amazing Tess.
I can't wait for all of this to happen. That challenge board seems incredibly exciting!
    Thank you!

Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Now once I get my tablet fixed, I can actually be in intermediate oekaki. c: (With practice)

This is absolutly amazing! Thank you so much Tess <3

Also, now I'm stuck, would this- viewtopic.php?t=1916989 be put in Intermediate or Advanced?

Nevermind, is there really gonna be a Comic board? That's fantastic! 8D

Alright it's time for my opinion.

Firstly to the people who are saying that having the oekaki not divided would be better.

As for that, no matter if they divide it up or not, it will still be very intimidating to newcomers. Having your art "ranked" would be insulting and you would get anxious when taking a leap over to the next "level". However, having one big art topic wouldn't do anything better. It may seem good at first, but having your art side by side to one of the "geniuses" of Chicken Smoothie wouldn't do good for morale. I even think that people would pay even less attention to newcomer's art if they were pooled alongside with amazing works.

All in all, there isn't really a better way, and I would perfer the levels because they keep things nice and clean and for me personally it's exciting to be able to move up "levels", even if the levels are flawed in one way or another.

Since I'm done with that, might as well tell what I think about the advanced board:

I think adding the Advanced board will be good. I won't state my reasons because I'm tired of thinking now.
Probably back...?

Advanced is lineless drawings I didn't see a requirement for those type of lines so i am left to wonder. Only tick about that.
I also don't understand the "Attractive" part. Does that mean it has to be colorful and eye catching or can it be not be eye catching but really good.

Meh, I don't think she meant much by the "Attractive" part. I'm pretty sure the art can be dark and gloomy and still get in if it's good enough.

As for the lineless, I don't think it matters if you use lines or not to get into advanced. It's just that a lot of artists use lineless because it's more realistic. c:

I think this is a great idea! Though it will probably make a few aritists sad when some see they are considered beginners or intermediate when they consider themselves advanced. Or maybe very few people will visit the beginners board because they will prefer to see more advanced art. Artists will become more competetive to reach for the advanced art board. Just speaking my mind. But I am looking foward to this! (:
not too sure if i will come back to cs or not. im mostly active on advanced scribes.
do feel free to send me a pm on here for whatever reason though. i tend to check in every now and then

Wow, this sounds like a fantastic idea! Though I'm definitely not an oekaki person, I would love to see these come into effect.

Just curious, but would the staff pick themes for the weekly challenge board, or would users be able to suggest them or vote on them? Either way it sounds really fun. :3

And I'm all in favour of bringing an advanced board. That means that there's more space for each group to show their art, and gives beginners something they can work up to and aspire to!
