Because my art sucks, I believe, once i improve, I might finally move on up to Intermediate. The standards were always very high, in my opinion, and I always believed I would never get there. Now, I just might.

I love the new board. <3 It really helps distinguish the expert expert artists. (Not that I'm one of the best gah) You're welcome to use one of my 5 drawings in Advanced Oekaki as an example if you'd like to haha. :)

I'm starting to see why people are so bothered by this. I looked through all the comments and i am starting to agree. Not a lot of people will look into the other boards cuz they want to se who is the advanced. Only a handful will look at the other boards. And people with styles that dont show perfect anatomy arent belonging there. And the clique thing really bugs me. All the grand oekaki artists getting all the spot light while people not as good are ignored and shadowed over. Thats what i am afraid might happen. And i agree the adoption thread is a popularity contest. If oekaki in general becomes that it wont draw new artists to try harder at all cause they would get discourage by the amount of indifference they feel

On the other side some people that dont know anything that the other veterans do, will try harder to get better. Good artists will know they are great when they get moved.
Im starting to lean to the negative side of this

i don't entirely agree with saying no one will look at the other boards, i'm sure people will.
however, the adoptable boards are monopolies and that makes it impossible for new ideas to sprout.

I've been a member of multiple oekakis and as soon as the advanced oekaki was added the community was super split between the "advanced" and "everyone else." And the "everyone else" group wasn't motivated to work for advanced oekakis because by the time they get there the advanced group already tight knit and doesn't care about the guys who worked to get there.

idk. I just see the oekaki community getting way worse than it already is. The adoptables oekaki is already a popularity contest nightmare, I can't see an advance oekaki making things better.

I think this is true.
At first I liked the new board, but when I tried to post there I got no attention or any likes at all. When I look at the peoples art that got moved to the advanced board when it was made, they have thousands of likes, and they did start a group for the 'talented artists'.
This makes me feel quite a bit left out, and a few others I've talked to as well.

I think there should be a little less strict requirements.

Actually, If you look through the intermediate board (pre-advanced board) you will see ATON of "talented" artists were already a tight night group. I mean, most of the more known names around cs such as, TWG90, neara, panacea, SK, taliska, ect.. Also, when i first joined CS i noticed the little groups of artists and i wanted to be in on it. But obviously they didnt notice me, so i improved my art and got to know them. Its not that they dont care about you, its just they dont know you.
I do agree about the adopts section, its a nightmare

Not really, its just a form for people with a higher art skill. Its really the same as beginners, beginners is for learning and so is advanced. People in advanced are trying to improve same as the people in beginners and intermediate, we are all just at different levels in skill. If you feel left out then, go and try to improve (or even post around the form). I feel that people in the advanced category earned their places, from all of the years of thier hard work. Also all of the time spent on perfecting their art. It dosent happen overnight, belive me ive been drawing since 2nd grade :p
ps. i seen your fishy painting, its adorable

Thank you ^^
I guess, it's just from a few personal reasons and PMs from big name artists I feel this way. I see nothing wrong with others being talented in art, I'm definitely not the best ^^, I just dint like it when others bash it in your face. (got a few nasty PMs from big name artists that I'm not fit for their group)

I keep seeing so many positive and negative comments about the change, I'm really unsure if it was for the good of the site or not.

I think this is a good idea because some of the artists in the "intermediate" board are really gifted and deserve more attention.

>Implying that those who are already at the intermediate/advanced level did not work for it?

I'm not trying to start an argument but you guys seem to keep forgetting that intermediate/advanced oekaki artists at that level because we've already gone through the growing pains you are having, now. It's not like we just rolled over one day and *poof* grand knowledge of limited digital art tools, color theory and composition were magically bestowed upon us, you know? A lot of us have taken classes, or simply have years and years worth of practice under our belt.

It's beginning to get a little insulting.

As Tess explained, if everything is put into one thread, beginners will get no attention at all, nor are they likely ever going to receive features, or make it into the 'most popular of....' threads. And unless you're in the intermediate stage already this change has absolutely no effect on you whatsoever, except for the benefit of making it EASIER for your post to stay in intermediate, AND your art shouldn't get bumped down by stuff that's been bumped again and again for months/years because it's in the most popular of.

Art is a growing process, and you will never stop growing. This isn't some video game that you need to beat right this second--it's categories of skill level on an oekaki board on a kids site; of COURSE a lot of members here are going to be in the beginner's section right now. There is no shame in that so stop treating 'beginner' like a dirty word and taking it personally that you have to go through the same process as everyone else. :p

I think it's just something the oekaki artists on CS will have to get used to and then everything will be alright. I like it because now there's more room in Intermediate for the less "advanced" artists since the rules are more lenient.

I agree art is an evergrowing process, but we all have different styles. And were all proud of our own work. Whos to say we all dont belong in advanced?
