I think this whole "Advanced" board will make me feel a bit worse knowing I'll never get there because I cant even get to intermediate.
This whole situation is confusing, and honestly I'm not to mad about the whole thing. I just know I wont be posting on the Oekaki again.
I've never tried to do intermidate...
But really, I agree with this... I feel like I've been bumped down another level..

well, from my understanding it was because there was a much smaller window for posting in intermediate. With the new category it should balance everything out a bit better, so you will be able to post there without getting moved to beginners

Comrade, that's a bit of an exaggeration. There's one piece in your gallery timed 48 minutes, the rest anywhere between 5-32 minutes.
And how do you figure you're being downgraded? Beginner and Intermediate have not changed guys--if anything it's easier to get into intermediate now, and the intermediate and beginner threads will be less cramped.

I think a lot of people aren't reading the part of the post where it explains that intermediate will be easier to qualify for.
I know CS is supposed to be a family-friendly child-oriented site, but if you are an artist and want to take it seriously, you are going to be judged. Beginners says all skill levels are welcome so if you don't want to be judged it's probably a good board.
I'm going off on a rant here but the old description of the intermediate oekaki said something about experienced artists looking for criticism IIRC, but whenever someone from beginners posted there, people would give them some tips on how to get into intermediate (use smoothing tool, shade with color etc.) and they would flip out and get really mad. I never understood why. I mean, they were given an excellent opportunity to improve.. I think as art gets more advanced people become more mature about their work and their attitude to criticism changes for the most part. I don't know where I was going with this..
Hey Tess, since you're changing around the oekaki boards could we please get a critique board for things like redlines and just general art tips on drawings for people who want to improve.

If you havent noticed, I'm in the middle of deleting my gallery -__-;
Also, I'm saying I dont believe in the downgrading process.
-If you create the most realistic picture ever in 30 minutes... boom out of intermediate.
- Amazing picture w/ background but no shading? Not intermediate.
- Beautifully shaded picture but not a good enough background? Welcome to beginners.

Tess has stated before the the oekaki mods aren't robots checking boxes and can tell when something deserves to be intermediate despite not meeting every single requirement (and she even mentions in the first post that art doesn't need to meet every single requirement to belong in a board.)
Those are just
guidelines so people have a basic idea of what to expect and aim for.

Personally I believe all the people being offended or think they are being 'downgraded' because they got moved to Beginners should take it as a que that if they would like to make it to Intermediate, they have to work hard and really care about their art, as the artists that have made it to their and higher will tell you if you ask. People spend years on perfecting their art styles, and you should do the same if you would like to improve. If you believe your art is good, but it's in Beginners, what's the harm in making it better so it can be in Intermediate? I would love for my art to get to Intermediate level, but I have yet to achieve this goal because I haven't perfected my art to that point yet.
This is just my opinion... I don't mean to offend anyone, but I seriously think that everyone should calm down about their art being moved down. If anything, if should give you the inspiration to look at your art and see what you can do to improve...

My worry is that advanced oekaki will get a little "cliqueish?" I've been a member of multiple oekakis and as soon as the advanced oekaki was added the community was super split between the "advanced" and "everyone else." And the "everyone else" group wasn't motivated to work for advanced oekakis because by the time they get there the advanced group already tight knit and doesn't care about the guys who worked to get there.
idk. I just see the oekaki community getting way worse than it already is. The adoptables oekaki is already a popularity contest nightmare, I can't see an advance oekaki making things better.
