I was hoping you did something for S&E; allow me to explain. People whos work it above beginners and not intermediate, use S&E. It is the only place that they can get recognition.

Oh well, there isn't much use saying that I disagree, CS does what it wants whether or not the community likes it.

Awesome! I've been looking forward to this for quite a while. Lol I thought the Oekaki page looked weird this morning and when I went to sketches and experimenters I ended up in editable oekaki.... then I realized there was a new category. xD

What used to be 'above beginners but not intermediate' is now included in Intermediate. The entire thing has been shifted over - this isn't a division of the Intermediate category, but a reordering of the whole system so that Intermediate is now... intermediate. If you're not a beginner, you're probably in Intermediate, so those people can now move out of Sketches and into the main categories where they belong. :3

'Advanced' is for works that are clearly above what would be called an 'intermediate' level, so those artists can get recognition for their skill and hard work, while those who used to be relegated to Beginners despite having reasonable skills can now move up to the more appropriate category of Intermediate. The Beginners category will likely shrink, as many artists who used to be stuck there will now have their work placed in the Intermediate category, leaving Beginners more open for new or inexperienced artists to gain recognition for their growing abilities without being overshadowed by the more experienced artists who will now be in Intermediate. Meanwhile, those in Intermediate who are still honing their skills (or who are doing some simpler art for fun or practice) no longer have to compete for attention with the near-professional art, which will now be in Advanced.

'Advanced' isn't a synonym for 'photo-realism' as some people seem to be thinking - it can include any style. Just take a look at some of the pieces already in Advanced, and you'll see several that are not photo-realistic. ;3

I'm thrilled about this! Sometimes I would be working on an oekaki for a while then getting ready to post when I realize I'm not sure where it belongs. Intermediate always seems to good for my art and I just didn't know where to post. But now that some of that amazing art will be in advanceed I might get up the urge to post one of my best drawings in Intermediate!
Though I am hoping these will be loose guidelines. Everyone has a different style and I know mine doesn't follow correct anatomy. But that's just the way I draw! Often I purpousely go for chibi and chub. And I don't think a background is needed to make a drawing "complete". Sometimes backgrounds take away from the center peice work.

This change makes a lot of sense. The word "intermediate" itself suggests something that is between two things (inter) and/or mediates between them. I always found it odd intermediate was the "highest" skill level.
