LYDIA BAINE
once amity, now erudite
once amity, now erudite
xxxxxxxall the rooms lydia glanced into looked the same. there was a basic bed, a wooden desk, and a chair. the bed had wooden drawers built into the sides - lydia assumed they were for clothing. she glanced back at jett and responded. "no way. they're trouble." following jett's lead, she chose the second to last room on the end of the hallway opposite from the dauntless transfers. there were substantially more rooms than transfers. lydia guessed the erudite-born would be staying with their family. after all, there was no reason not to. lydia hesitated a moment before entering the room, out of instinct rather then anything else. it would take some getting used to. she still wasn't considering this her room. it was more like an empty shell than anything else. well, this would be home for at least the next few weeks, though lydia supposed she wouldn't have much time to spare with all the studying she'd have to do. studying was a bit of a novelty. she'd never had to do it in school, where the answers came easily to here. but here would be much, much different.
xxxxxxxshe exited her room, finding that jett was gone, probably in his room. might as well see what she could see. cautiously at first, but then more quickly, lydia began to walk down the dormitory hallway in the dierection from which they'd entered. bart was standing there silently, watching lydia approach. truth be told, the older man scared lydia a little. he was just so unemotional and robotic. it was if he'd done this so many times his heart wasn't really in it. but lydia was curious about what they'd go through during initiation, and who better to ask than the guy assigned to giving them a tour and rundown of the whole place? she walked up, stood, and coughed for no reason in particular. it wasn't that she needed his attention; bart's eyes were already on her. it simply felt like the right thing to do. "excuse me? hello, sorry to bother you. i just wondered if you could go into a bit more depth about initiation." lydia flashed him a slightly shaky smile that all amity could pull out on command. she didn't look around; simply focusing on bart so as to force him to answer the question.
