Just how does this "partnering up" work?

You and another person will team up to get pets that cost a lot of tokens. For example, you have three rats and another person has three rats, you will trade them your rats (or they to you) and whoever now has the tokens will turn them in at the correct store. Then, you'll sort out who gets which pet, and will send/receive a trade with the pet.

Ok, here's an example:
Let's say you have only 3 rats, so you ask some one to partner up... They give you three more rats so you can complete the trade with the NPC, but since the NPC gives you two pets, you must give one of the pets to the person who gave you the three rats/tokens.
