Alli closed her eyes and exhaled quietly, still hurting beyond belief.

Cam laid by them, stroking Alli's hair.

Alli opened her eyes and brought her free hand up, resting it gently against Cam's cheek. Her eyes searched his face, trying to see if he was going to be okay. They couldn't speak about how they were actually feeling right then with Eli in the room, so they'd have to communicate by other means.

Cam watched her, still rubbing her head. His eyes said that even though it hurt, it'd be okay.

Alli nodded a bit, her thumb stroking his cheek. She wished she could take away his pain.

Cam wished the exact same thing. He hated seeing her upset.

Alli hated seeing Cam upset more than almost anything else. She wished that she could keep him from being hurt.

Cam laid as close as he could without squishing Eli or her stomach.

Alli watched him, her hand still resting against his cheek. They were laying surprisingly close to one another, seeing as they had an overgrown stomach and a five year-old daughter between them.
