Nᴀᴍᴇ ➵ Raphael Snow

Nɪᴄᴋɴᴀᴍᴇ ➵ Rafe or Rafi;; more often he goes by Rafe [phonetically pronounced Rayf]. Only to his closest friends is he referred to as Rafi.

Aɢᴇ ➵ Rafe is twenty-nine years old.

Rᴀᴄᴇ ➵ Human.

Fᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ➵ The Highborne.

Rᴀɴᴋ ➵ Unlikely as it may seem at times, Rafe is the, albeit self-proclaimed, "King" of the Highborne. Although many of the Highborne have accepted him as their leader, he still faces some opposition from time to time. How Rafe actually became leader however, is slightly unclear.

Mᴀɢɪᴄ ➵ Rafe is leniant when it comes to magic amongst the Highborne. He is definantly more accepting towards mages than the Legion is. Rafe does not publically condone blood magic; however he himself is a secret practioner.

Pᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ ➵ Ambitious;; This is Rafe's defining quality. He always seeks to do better and to try harder in order to reach almost unobtainable goals. The one thing he is always searching for is power. He may not look it below the surface of jokes and smiles, but in his heart he is hungry for power. It is this deep drive within him that is making him stir the Highborne out of the woodwork, in the hopes that one day he may return them to their former greatness, and, perhaps most importantly, so that he may sit on the throne as the rightful ruler of Zienna.

Charismatic;; Words and friendships make a leader better than iron and steel. Rafe has charisma in the bucket loads. Rafe makes a good friend and is loyal to those he trusts. He is chivalrous and flirtatious, enjoying the company of ladies as much as any red-blooded male. Often he wins them over with a simple boyish grin, coupled with his roguish nature. He is quick-witted and so is his tongue, he will throw out jokes and insults in equal measure. His tongue has been known to get him in trouble a few times; particularly after he's reached the bottom of his cups. In such occasions, Rafe's confidence can often be mistaken for arrogance and his boasting becomes loud.

Impulsive;; Rafe could do with a little more patience. He is hopelessly impulsive and will never stop to think of the consequences; whether it means kissing someone or slitting their throat. At best, he could be called a gambler, and not just the sort with cards and dice. In the midst of battles, Rafe's foolhardy streak will take over and he will often gamble his life on the line. Whether as an act of bravery or stupidity, his recklessness has, to date at least, paid off. That said, Rafe is quite concientious and will rarely ever purposefully put someone else's life on the line for his own personal gain.

Unpredictable;; Rafe's mind is a complex web of thoughts, about as unreadable as his poker-faced expression. Despite being unpredictable, he is rarely indecisive and once he has set his mind to something he will find a way to achieve it; whether it be stealing someone's coin purse or defeating the Legion. Rafe will often confide any plans he has for the Highborne in a few select individuals, however he will not let everyone know; else his plans would lose their unpredictable nature.

Kind-hearted;; Perhaps Rafe's most redeeming feature is his good-natured ways. He rarely holds grudges against people, par the grudge towards the Legion; though even that is fuelled more by jealousy than hatred. As all leaders should be, he is a good listener and is their for his friends and the Highborne alike. At times he comes across as selfish, but at the same time he will put his life on the line in defence of his people. Although Rafe as proclaimed himself 'King' he does not live in a castle, wear a crown or sit in throne all day. He rules from amongst his people not above them. Still, he joins the Highborne in taverns, rides amongst them into battle and shares jokes with them. Rafe's main aspiration is to be a great leader and to do that he tries to earn respect ; not through fear, but through love.

Aᴘᴘᴇᴀʀᴀɴᴄᴇ ➵ Rafe is of an average height, standing at around 5'10". His frame is athletic and well-muscled; with broad strong shoulders and long legs. His arms are toned, with broad, flat-palmed hands. His fingers are long and slender with caloused fingertips, from scaling the walls of buildings. As his fingers are so nimble, they excell at notching arrows. The palms

of his hands are sliced with deep, ugly white scars. The older ones are faded, however the newer ones are raw, and look painful; with the lacerations still showing the the skin. The scars are a visible reminder of the blood he has offered for his magic.

Rafe has a rugged face, with a chiseled jawline. His cheekbones are high-set and prominent; often visibly tensing when he is irritated. His lips are usually curved upwards into a smile, or a knowing smirk. Rafe rarely frowns and when he does, it always looks slightly strained and out of place on his face. His eyes are a dull grey colour, however they always seem to have a glint of mischief in them. His hair is a hazel colour and often discheveled from him running his hands through it. Rafe's chin is always covered by a light layer of stubble, adding to his slightly rugged look.

Raphael wears a simple outfit; with no heavy armor. A boiled leather tunic rests over a cotton shirt. Both are unbutton to his chest. Over the breast of his tunic a small phoenix badge is sown; the sigil of the Highborne. A leather belt cinches in his waist. Two leather straps cross over his chest, lashing a bow and quiver to his back. Brown breeches cover his legs, tucked into a pair of born leather boots. The tread is almost completely smooth from years of wear. A swordbelt is tied loosely around his hips, a shortsword hanging in it's scabbard from his left hip; a dagger from his left.

Around his neck hangs a twisted necklace woven crudely from hemp and cord. Various trinkets hang from it; feathers, animal teeth and a dented circle of engraved tin.

Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ ➵ Rafe had a hard upbringing. His father was a theif and his mother was wench. When he was five, his father was caught stealig by the legion and executed. His father had been an avid member of the Highborne, as was his mother. The only way Rafe got feed was stealing, so that was what he did. He stole and theived, selling anything that couldn't be consumed on the black market. He made many connections and got a reputation as a bit of a go-to man; you want something stealing, you got to Rafe; someone annoyed you? Go to Rafe. He also began to fence, dealing and trading in stolen goods. It enabled him to keep him and his mother afloat, allowing them to live inconspicously in their hovel.

It wasn't until his early twenties that he began to take a concious interest in the plight of the Highborne. He was one himself. His mother had always told him childhood stories of the greatness of the Highborne; how the Legion took away that power. She told him that their family came from a old lineage; and had once ruled the Highborne. When Rafe had asked her why they weren't ruling the Highborne now, she had no answer for him.

The leader of the Highborne had been lazy and unambitious; he wasn't bringing change. He had no drive to make a difference, not like Rafe had. Rafe was frustrated. While in a tavern, he came across a shady gentleman; a blood mage. Normally, Rafe would not have paid him any attention, however he was drunk and receptive. The mage said he had the answer to all his problems, a 'life for a life' he called it. Rafe disregarded it.

However, in the days that followed, his encounter played on his mind. Then his mother became ill. She was bedridden, riddled with fever; in a perpetual state of sleep and cold sweat. A sick, twisted plan formed in Rafe's mind.

He didn't even remember picking up the knife. Or climbing the stairs. All he remembers is the moment. Just as he brought the knife to his mothers throat, her eyes flashed open and locked onto his. He didn't stop. He felt serenly calm afterward; he had done a justice by his ailing mother. Later that night, the previous leader of the Highborne mysteriously died.

Rafe was quick to assert himself as the new leader. It wasn't like he was disliked. To this date, no-one knows how he became leader. Rafe has been ''King'' of the Highborne for seven years now, trying deperately to bring them to their former glory.
