I think it is just that the... fluff there is meant to be brown, like the spots on the body and thus it just seems thicker when in fact, it's just coloured in

Yeah, and on the note in the Lion Islands it says "Wanted: Dinner Friends." Looks like one got dinner and the other got friends. cx

I think this was the only staff pet that had the feet/paws/claws majorly changed from the original line art!! Correct me if I'm wrong though!

This one (left)had kind of major paw changes but not as much.
Notice even the toes on the back paws are different compared to a normal dog. (right)

These also had pretty good foot changes.


But yeah, that gryphon has the most changes in the feet xD

All dogs have 4 toes. ^^ Just on the mornal line art, you probably can't see the fourth toe because it's on the other side of the foot. Notice how you can barely see the fourth toe on the line art edit.
