What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

My first Mutato - this lil' guy has a theme featuring two mythical birds - the pheonix and the thunderbird.

Hi, I'm Cobweb. I've been eyeing this Mutato for a long time already, and finally gave in to temptation. OTL I hope I can win my dream Mutato, and so I'm doing my very best in this form.


I would name this Mutato Rakuen.


Rakuen means 'paradise' in Japanese. A phoenix brings warmth and fire to a world while a thunderbird brings rain and monsoons, sustaining human life. So isn't it a sort of paradise when you have good weather and benefits a lot from it?




Rakuen's favorite legend is the phoenix. Though he admires the thunderbird a lot to, he thinks that fire is more important that rain and storms. Fire keeps us warm, helps us cook food and is the driving force of nature. The fiery sun starts the endless water cycle and is the energy source of every organism.

Okay, I'll stop boring you (ahem) and let's hear Rakuen's opinion.

I seriously admire and want to be like the Phoenix. Don't you think it's cool, being able to control fire and all that? And I could help humans and other creatures too, if I were a phoenix! Phoenixes are wise, immortal birds, rebirthing every five hundred years. Wouldn't it be awesome to know practically everything?

Phoenixes: The Fiery Immortals
-They have enchanting, beautiful voices, which are usually high and lyrical. Their singing is unmatchable.
-It is said that bamboo and milk can attract a mated pair of phoenixes.
-In ancient China, it is believed that phoenix blood could cure any ailment and phoenix flesh could give its consumer immortality.
-Chinese weddings depict brides as the phoenix and the grooms as the dragon.

Thunderbirds: The Eye of Storms
-Native American tribes often make totems that are topped with a carving of a thunderbird.
-It is believed that thunderbirds cause thunder with their wingbeats and shoot lightning from their eyes. Oooh, superman has a rival//shot
-Certain thunderbirds can shapeshift into humans.
-Thunderbirds are revengeful; provoked thunderbirds are extremely dangerous.

i am the emo vampire and this is my first mutato tryout c:
i'd name him hercules
the name sticks for me c:
the name means a bunch of strength and courage, and that's what this mutato seems like to me
it also reminds me of the birds, they both are very strong and courageous
the thunder bird is my favorite, i've always liked phoenix but i feel the thunderbird gets less attention
though fire causes more damage than thunderstorms most time,
a lot of times the cause of wildfires is, in fact, thunderstorms
so, i believe the thunderbird has a bit more strength, and i like it better
but i still like the phoenix, no worry c;

i may add a little more later if allowed

Hai! I'm Shadowbolt and this is my
second time trying for a Mutato, I saw
these and they are just beautiful.

Mutato's name
τέφρα
This is simply Ashes in Greek which is where
the phoenix originated from, Greek myths.
I shall probably nickname him Ash.

If you can't already tell it's favorite legend is the phoenix. I named him τέφρα because it's an exotic name for an exotic creature. The phoenix apparently rebirths from the ashes which is why I chose his name. I would like this Mutato because I've been trying to get one of these recently and this one has caught my eye. I have always loved myths and legends so this just fitted me.

The thunderbird. While he Phoenix symbolizes the beauty of life, he prefers the power that the Thunderbird embodies. It's every movement from the flashing of its eyes and beating of its wings is noticed by all in the form of lightning and thunder. The Thunderbird is the ruler of the skies, and Altair whishes to have at least some of the presence it has despite being such a small creature.

The meaning of Pheonix? A pheonix is a great bird of flame,
