Part of your world

Two clans, warring off the coast of Australia for reasons long forgotten. This is much more than a skin deep hatred, it is a vendetta that might as well run in their blood. A dangerous concoction of age old rage and disagreements on the way things work.

These two clans have two things in common however, the first being that they are merfolk, supposedly mythical half human half fish beings who can take a fully human form when on land, the second being their hatred of humans. And why wouldn’t they agree on that much? In the eyes of any sea loving creature humans are hateful, dumb beasts that pollute the sea and kill its inhabitants. Yet for whatever reason some children have been allowed to attend schools on the land on conditions that they keep their true identies a secret and avoid any form of emotional connection with the humans.

So what is your stance? Are you an adult merperson protecting your own clan from it’s radical counterpart? A merchild attending an alien human school? A human who has noticed the strange behavior of some of your classmates? A member of a small human society fighting what you beleive to be the evil merfolk? Whatever the case things are about to become a lot more serious.

Below are the two head families of the merfolk, the Syren and the Neried, the most privileged and powerful. Each family leads one of the waring clans. There are four families per clan including the head family, the heads of the Syren and Neried familys command the three other familes through respect and an age-old magical ability to command obedience from them (think of the alpha wolves from Twilight, its like that).

Basic description (human and mer form is merperson): Roxy is a pretty blonde girl with pale blue eyes, she always wears a purple scarf no matter what the weather
Personality: Roxy, dispite being in highschool Roxy is an alcoholic, which explains why shes often cheerful. But dispite her often intoxication she is a computor genius and a very caring person, shes been through a lot in her short life and likes to try and help people so they dont end up like her. Her father had an affair with a merperson she didnt know and both her father and the mysterios mermaid were killed because of it, she was the only one who knew that mermaids were resposible for her fathers death and she never told anyone because she knew they would think she was crazy, she grew a resentment for all of the merpeople and has vowed t find the ones that killed her father and kill them

Basic description (human and mer form is merperson): as a human Dirk is a rather tall good-looking boy with gelled-up spiky hair and orange eyes, he likes to wear black Kamina shades, as a merman his tail is the same orange as his eyes and he had fins on his arms and gills on his neck
Personality: he has a laid-back demenor and likes to flirt casualy with boys and girls (he doesnt discriminate). But hes rather insecure underneth and doesnt really beleive hes the right person to take over the clan one day. He likes to crack jokes and act a little silly but keeps a stright face all the while because of the 'irony' that comes from it. He loves irony, anime and puppets, puppets are rad. So is anime. He spends a lot of time alone so hes very independant. theres much more to him but I'll leave that to be RP'd out

History (optional): he spent his childhood with one foot on land and the other in the water, he got all the history of his people and the fighting finess a future clan leader has to have but also soaked up the culture of a modern teenager. This was because he liked to show off his ninja-like skills by sneaking away to walk on land for hours or even days at a time causing trouble. He first got into anime in highschool and now browses the net whenever hes on land with a phone he bought himself. He's also a technical and programing genius and has made his favorite shades into a waterproof computing device that he can use as a phone, the shades also have a programed AI that works as his Auto responder when he cant be bothered to talk to people
