every year, each
district must
offer up two
children, a boy
and a girl, as
tributes . . .

                  RULE NUMBER ONE -
                  there are no rules.

nope, i'm just kidding. there are rules. first off, this is an invite-only. if you feel you should have been invited, message me and we'll work something out. i'd like for this to be a semi-literate roleplay. not literate, semi-lit. i think you all know what that means - two paragraphs or so. no need to go overboard. i've roleplayed with pretty much all of you at some level [or you got a reccomendation] and i know you're all capable of much more. but let's just take a little roleplaying break, okay? next up - i've invited twelve of you. i will allow at most seven and five or seven of one gender and five of another. one character please. use short forms. i'll provide you with a skeleton you don't have to use, but your form should contain all of that information. essentially what i'm saying is that the skelly is worth taking a look at. now, reserves are fine and all, but i'd love to have this started in three to four days. that's how long you have to finish your forms. now, as an extra incentive to finish quickly, you can't reserve stuff from the cornucopia until your form is finished. as for the cornucopia, i'm not going to put a limit on how many things you reserve. just try to be realistic. as for who dies when, i'll be using a random number generator to figure it all out. my character will be in there, too; so it'll be fair. or as fair as it gets. but once you die, don't leave! you can roleplay a gamemaker and stuff. it'll be fun. so, yeah, if you've got any questions message me. thanks for reading.

( ωαтcн уσυя вαcк - ) the arena

    YOU HAVE SIXTY SECONDS
    to take it all in

this year's arena is nasty. the gamemakers modeled it as a frozen wasteland, snow and all. here the temperature never rises above freezing. snowy gusts of wind blow often and strip the warmth of the tributes. blizzards are commonplace, and there's not really a lot of cover besides a pine forest in which you can find snow hares and moose. the general layout of the arena is simple. it's shaped like a diamond. the cornucopia's dead center, and the frozen lake is at the southernmost point. between the lake and the cornucopia is totally clear ground. the rest of the arena is covered by pine forest against a slate-gray sky. luckily for the tributes, this color of sky makes it difficult to spot smoke so lighting a fire is actually a feasible action. since the gamemakers actually want a show, they've dressed the tributes warmly - knee-length white hooded coats that blend in with the snow and matching snowpants. and obviously, there are boots; but they're clunky and not good for running.

the lake is pretty much the only
water source. you could eat snow, but that lowers your body temperature drastically, something that's not affordable in this climate. since there's not a lot of vegetation you could potentially eat pine. otherwise you'll have to set snares or do something else to hunt. don't make the moose angry, though; as they might attack you. only try to trap hares if you value your guts. climbing a tree is a bad idea - the tops are fragile and rigged with traps. the gamemakers would like nothing more then to see someone plummet to their deaths. it's best to stay on the ground.

    name: nerissa maylor
    age: fourteen
    district: eight
weapon of choice: knives - as a butcher's daughter, nerissa's quite familiar with them.
strengths: the care and keeping of knives [not so much fighting], delicate work, speed, stronger than she looks - but nothing compared to a career, intelligence
weaknesses: hand-eye coordination [can't throw or catch], can't remain cool-headed under duress, rather small for her age, her tendencies to panic, overreacting to the slightest noise [like breaking into an all-out sprint], optimistic, for some reason fixated on the idea of a miracle that'll come and save her
appearance: nerissa's small. that's the first word that pops to mind when describing her. she's weak and lacks true stamina, using only her brainpower to keep going. nerissa's mind is quite formidable - when she's not in danger. when in trouble her mind freezes up. she has blue eyes and brown hair, vaguely resembling a mouse or something of the sort by the shape of her face. [eww this sucks a lot.]
personality: intelligent, minute, unimpressive - nerissa doesn't exactly pop out of the crowd. she likes it that way. if she doesn't get noticed, then aren't her chances better? it's not like she's trained her whole life for this as some have. nerissa's intelligent enough to recognize that her chances of winning are slim. but she's going to give it her best shot anyways, rather than stepping off the plate early to just end it.
items: nerissa has the contents of the white pack - a blanket, gloves, and two knives. she has wire for snares but no water or way to start a fire, which is an issue.
