Lisa May glanced across the river, squinting into the distance. She could hear rustling now, very faintly at first, but the wind was coming her way and the sound carried. If there was no wind, she wouldn't have been able to hear it at all; as it was, whoever was making the noise was obviously doing it very loudly. Lisa May frowned.
What if I have to stop them? What if they're crossing the island? she thought, worriedly. Just then, Mitzi came up beside her.
"Hi! What're you doing?" she asked, obviously excited.
Lisa May started. "Mitzi! Hi!" she greeted her friend. "By the way, do you know who's doing that? I know you have sharper ears than us humans, so...."
Mitzi seemed to concentrate for a moment, and finally looked up at Lisa May, saying, "Oh, that's just Timber. She's running around, cursing at a butterfly!"
Amber chuckled. "Wow, I wish I could hear that!"
"I know! It's so funny." Mitzi seemed to break down laughing, then suddenly straightened up. "Oh! I was going to meet Rosie for tea later." Lisa May glanced up. Rosie lived right next to the ramp on the cliff. The ramp was right next to Lisa May's little hollow that she lived in, and she often looked up there and saw Rosie. Rosie was standing there, waving.
"Hi, Rosie!" Lisa May called.
"Hello!" Rosie called cheerily, smiling widely.
"Well? You'd better go meet her!" Lisa May laughed, giving Mitzi a nudge. Mitzi looked at her, nodded, and then burst off. Lisa May stared after her thoughtfully.

In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you're a king and I'm a lionheart
And in the sea that's painted black,
Creatures lurk below the deck
But you're the king and I'm a lionheart
