Porchester, why does that sound familiar...

Welcome to Porchester. A small island off the Eurasian continent. Long ago it was a popular location, renowned for it's advance in civilization. It's machines top class, some even exceeding those ever made. Some which could know more than any person ever could. Being able to invent it's own machines, to no surprise was a problem. After the machine was made, it destroyed a few buildings before the creator brought it to a stop.

Soon, nobody talked or heard of the isle again. Disgusted in it's achievements to be the best there ever was, and failing miserably. The tourists disappeared, awards started to stop, and the isle just about died. Nobody in the rest of the world ever saw sight nor heard a sound from the isle ever since. Porchester had now become so elusive, and it rose to the status of legend.

These dragons, as they walked on two legs, even with their paws, had stopped. The victorian era, now with machinery had stopped in place. Falling into a dark age for years on end, until it rose again. Steampunk was all that was left. Nobody was interested in advancing to the new age. They were happy in their eternal paradise, in blissful ignorance.

The only ones here were born into this place. This culture, where they all dressed in gears, laces and everything fancy there is. Instead of a lock on their heart, there was a locket. Instead of not talking to people, they would shut down. The sky was full of airships, the ground filled with inventions everywhere. Even a small child knew how to make a watch and tinker with a clock. Factories surrounding the place, where the adults would work and pound metal to keep everything alive.

Everything was peaceful here, yet there was a few dangers. The pirates who ruled the skies, even though they were rather small and kept their captures to a minimum. But they aren't the only danger. So many other things disrupt the life of these daily people, some they would never have seen coming...

Yes, as a rp group, we do have a few rules. Nothing that should be too hard to keep in track though! I may seem a little strict, but I promise you, it's all for the better, and I'm actually quite bendy.

➼ Please, this is a semi-literate role-play. Please keep your spelling somewhat correct, understandable if you miss a word or two that's fine. Also please use full sentences, and at least 3-4 per post. I won't get on you too much about this, but I will if you post only a few words again and again.

➼ PG-13 I cannot emphasize this enough! Please, no blood over it, nothing romantic over this, nothing! If you really must, go to pm but seriously. This is a kid's website, and should be treated as such. I have no strikes for this, if something obviously over PG-13 I will ban you from the rp. If you really didn't have any idea, a strike but just do your best to avoid it if possible.

➼ Be polite! This is pretty simple, don't just start calling out people for needless things, this is for fun of course!

➼ Try not to ignore. We all have the feeling, posting on a rp and nobody ever replying. It feels like they're hating on you, or neglecting you. So if you have an open dragon or two, why not try to rp with a person who's alone!

➼ Please use brackets if you're talking not in your dragon. You can use ({[ or anything else that makes it obvious! Just to avoid confusion and all.

The isle is quite obviously located off of Europe, into the Atlantic sea. Where they live it is rather cold some months, making winters hard for those who are poor. Though there are many cities within this lands. Including the two smaller side islands.

Ray

The largest city in the entire isle. This is the place where city culture gathers, the best towns are and the royals live. From pheasant to baron, this city has everything. Safe and dangerous, yet even though it may be the most magnificent, it is a common place that the pirates come to loot since not everywhere can be guarded.

Knaphoscheid

A middle sized city, yet the largest on the smallest isle, Knap. Not known for much except their excess use of smoke, polluting the air heavily around them, giving the poor minor lung problems but nothing serious, and life can be artificially extended, making it not a problem.

Ballycolla

Small city, a good place for close knit locals or for small town culture. Located on the second smallest island.

It takes place in every city, no need to travel, everybody is allowed to celebrate, from just buying an extra loaf of bred to coming out in the streets and partying with your fellow citizens.

London's Dress Shop

London is a local shop owner, with her own handmade dresses. The girl is the best dress-maker in her city though, which other makers envy as well. Being a rather successful business, it's popular to get dresses from for the festival, or even just for looking around, trying them on and having a talk with your friends. Not to worry of course, the owner is just about as up for chat as the rest of them!

Espressos' Arts and Crafts

Espresso is another local shop owner, but exclusively located in the town of Ballycolla. She sells many different things, from paintings to handmade leather-bound journals. If you enjoy folk-art or even want to see if you can commission the artist, Espresso is your local artist to see. But don't be wary, she would rather you think of her as a friend then a shop owner.

So, I decided, if I'll make an rp, shall I answer a few common questions that I would get too often? And I thought this would be the easiest, so if you have a question, check through this first ~

What is the group about?
Other than the answer on the front, it's a community role-play of the daily
life in a steampunk town with an over arching plot that will only reveal
itself through more roleplaying.

Can I join?
This is a strange question, but of course you can! If you have a JMD then
you are free to join, otherwise, sorry but no. If you want to adopt a JMD
go here. ^^

I don't know if this is PG-13 or not? What should I do?
Well a good way to do this, is if you're questioning it, then it's probably
not something to post at all. If you're really unsure and you really want
to post it, I suppose you can Pm me or some other person to work it out.

What is Steampunk?
'Steampunk' is the name of a popular clothing (and sometimes life) style,
Steampunk is Victorian era clothing with mechanical steam-powered
elements to it. We're talking goggle, top hats, gears, wrenches, whatever
you can think of. If you're still unsure, use a search engine to look up Steampunk images.

Can I start a big event?
Of course! We encourage this, just pm one of the owners and we can work
something out! No murders or anything, but we are all for parties or
anything else you can think of really!

May I start a shop?
Yes, yes you may! Just ask, and then figure out a few details a
description and I would be delighted to add you to the list!

Can I be in on the big main plot?
Well everybody is! Even the pirates find a way into this!

Yes! There are always ranks, and a good number in this rp. Again new ranks are encouraged and just need permission!

Peasants
The most basic of all the groups. They make up a good amount of the people and live an honest living in this world. Peasants are treated awfully either, they aren't serfs, but they don't get the pay they deserve. Each day they head out to the factory and come home at night, sometimes to a happy family, sometimes alone.

Soldier
These are also rather basic people. They guard the outsides of the city, protecting the citizens form pirates and other offenders. Yet many days nothing much happens so they also socialize by talking to people all around the city. Though every once in a while they head down to the local pub, and possibly get a little tipsy.

Cooks
The cooks are another overlooked class. These guys work wherever food is served, a chef always behind the back door. Sometimes a quiet job, but they have a rather good pay and get off of work early in the day. A highly sought after job, yet many see it as uncool, and silly.

Thieves
Slightly Limited, but not with a number. Just to make sure everybody is not a theif is all!
These are the sneakiest and usually smallest of the bunch. They sneak around on the street, watch you, trail you and strike you when you least expect it. Some use charm, while others can pick pocket you without you knowing. Even some are children who will get you by their charming innocence, another danger in the city is knowing who to trust.

Professor
These are the intelligent ones of the bunch. Researching, looking for clues. They may not invent, but these keep others well educated, sometimes seem to have a higher air but all together are the foundation for the engineers and scientists.

Engineer
Exactly how it sounds, they invent, and they try to make things that haven't been tried. Usually with close contact with professors, they can do the most crazy things, hoping their strange things will work. From things as simple as a watch to things as complex as the fated Brain.

Aviator - Limited Slots, 3 left
These are the fighters of the sky, in their airships watching for the pirates, keeping the skies clear of traffic and lookouts for attacks. Though the job pays terrifically well, not many are hired and it takes real skill to be behind the wheel of a airship.

Medics Limited Slots, 3 left
Exactly how it sounds, the doctors take care of the sick and wounded. Usually they're only there to take a thorn out of a foot or cure a sick throat. Occasionally it gets interesting, but when they're not working, they stroll across the street and visit another shop or two.

Royals Limited Slots, 1 left
Alright a note form me, the royals aren't always the dragons rich otherwise. So, these dragons are who we choose them to be, and who we want them to be. So if you're dragon is filthy rich outside of this rp, likely they won't' be here. Anywho, these dragons are the richest of the rich. The barons and baronesses. They usually just live in high class manors walking in public, transported by their carriages. Some are alright, some are snooty, yet they are only people with a different amount of money. But they get special privileges from places.

Pirates Limited Slots, 2 left
The savages of the sky. These are the ones who have control of a swift maneuverable aircraft and have the power to loot. Yet even though they have hold of some weapons they cannot steal all the time. But these pirates strike fear into the heart of all those who live in the city and the pirates often take advantage of that, though nobody is sure if these bandits will ever get caught
