Dear my Sweet,
Everyday I look at myself and find out that I am only half. Only half of what I could be. Half of what I want to be. Everyday I am just not the same. Ever since I have been writing to you I learned more about myself. I learned that I need something. Something that can make me whole. My sweet, you are that something. You are my other half, and it has taken me years to figure it out. I love you, and wish to see you soon.
Love, Him.
Ever since Rose was a young girl she has been receiving these strange letters from someone known as him. These letters were sweet, and kind, and made he feel special inside. Knowing that someone out there loving her made he feel all the more happier. Years passed and Rose grew older, and the letters continued to come. All of them the same. Rose became more curious about the letters, and began to write back to him. She wanted to know more about this strange person who was writing to her.
Soon, more letters came back, all the same. Same kindness, same love, but nothing about him. All about her.
On Roses twenty first birthday she receives another letter from him. But this time it was different. This time it he ended it with 'wish to see you soon.' Was that a sign that he wanted to see her? Could this be her chance to see him for once and for all? Or was this just one of those charming letters he wrote for her? I guess there is only one way to find out then.

A blonde streak flew through the kitchen door of the Millers house hold. A woman in white stood at the sink cleaning several dishes when she looked up to see this blinding thing run through the kitchen and out to the living room.
"Rosaria Sue James, no running in the house!" she called out as she scrubbed down a pearly white dish.
Another sound came from the kitchen door. The woman turned to see a bounce of curls ram right into her with an 'uff.' Hazel eyes gleamed up at the woman with fear.
"Mrs. Miller! I'm so sorry, I.. I didn't see you there. Please, Mrs. Miller don't send me home to mom." begged the hazel eyed young girl. Her eyes pleaded for mercy. She looked as though she was facing her execution, and still was pleading her innocence's.
"I won't, Elizabeth, but please, be careful." Mrs. Miller responded calmly. "Oh, and do to tell Rose, no more running in the house."
Elizabeth did a quick nod of her head-causing her brown curls to bob-before running off to find Rose. She slipped into the living room and searched for her dear friend. Her eyes scanned the area for any sign of the familiar blonde streak that ran through, but there was no sign of her. Elizabeth walked through the living room and into a long, narrow hallway. Doors lined the hallway, each of them closed tightly shut. They all mocked Elizabeth for her to enter one. Each dared her. But Elizabeth ignored all but one door. The second door on the right was Roses room. Slowly, and timidly did Elizabeth extend her hand and reached for the knob. She turned it slowly and cracked the door open.
A giggle filled the room as Elizabeth opened the door, and a lump on the bed moved slightly. Elizabeth ran in and jumped on the bed, right next to the lump.
The blonde streak popped up, and out from underneath the covers. Her baby blue eyes gleamed up at Elizabeth, and he toothy grin brightened her face.
"You found me!" Rose exclaimed happily. Her grin grew even bigger as she pushed the covers over and revealed a small envelope.
"I did! Now can we see the letter?" Elizabeth asked impatiently.
Rose gave yet another toothy grin and a nod of her head. Her hands rubbed the top of the letter where it said her full name and address. Rose turned it over on its back and tore open the small seal. Her hands shook as she slipped open the parchment and unfolded a piece of paper. The smell of sweet lilac followed off the paper and up to the two girls. The writing was childish, and scrawled across the paper haphazardly. Roses eyes scanned over the paper. Her heart fluttered and her smile grew.
"Rose, what does it say?! What does it say?!" Elizabeth asked placing her hands on her hips.
" 'Dear My sweet,' " she began to read. " 'Roses are red, Violets are blue, I will forever love you. Love him' "
"Rose, you have an ad...ad...admirer." Elizabeth stuttered as the words rolled of her tongue.
"I think I do!" she exclaimed happily as she reread the letter. "I wonder who it is. All it says is 'love him.' Whose him?"
Roses thoughts went wild as she tried to solve this mystery. Who was him, and why was he writing her such sweet words?
The clock struck nine, and a loud rumble of a truck roared into the driveway. Rose instantly jumped up from her seat in the kitchen and ran to her room. She slammed the door and hid under her bed. Mr. Miller had come home late tonight. This was just a sign that he made a stop at the bar for a drink.
Another loud roar came from the kitchen she had just left. It reminded her of a tiger, as he growled at an approaching enemy. Mr. Miller began to yell at Mrs. Miller. His voice echoed through the house, and even outside of it. Rose covered her ears, trying to block out the screams that came from Mrs. Millers mouth. Rose knew exactly what was going on. For a seven year old, she was very smart and knew more than others.
A loud thud echoes through the house as well. Rose gasped, for she heard the faint sound of weeping. Soon, the creak of wooden planks began to flow underneath the crack of her door. The sound of boots that walked along these wooden planks were heard as well. She could make out the slow movement of Mr. Millers step. 'Heel, toe, heel toe,' was the sound that came closer to her door.
Rose held her breath and covered her mouth. She could hear the turn of her knob, and the silent creak of her door. Two big boots stepped into the room. Both looked like a size fourteen in men's.
"Oh Rosie, where are you?" called the Mr. Miller.
He glanced around the small room. The bed was neatly made, and no clothes were left out. But what caught his eye was the small, sweet smelling paper that laid on top of the bedside table. His calloused hands snatched it off the table and opened it. His eyes scanned over the parchment, and his teeth gritted.
"Who would send a letter to you?!" he called out angrily as he tore the letter in half and dropped it. "Your a nothing!"
Mr. Miller left the room in a huff. After he was gone, Rose began to cry. His words hurt him, and his actions hurt her the most. She slowly crawled out of the small space under the bed, and over to the torn letter. Her hands grasped the two pieces of sweet smelling paper. She quickly fit them back together and reread the letter.
"At least you love me." she whispered as she moved to her small closet. Rose opened it and glanced around. On the very floor of the closet sat a lonely shoe box. Rose placed the torn letter inside the box. She closed the door and leaned into it. Now, she knew that somewhere beyond this old house, someone loved her.

Rose silently walked through the house, digging her feet into the hard wood floors. For the past week she has been like this, hovering around the door. It was as if she was waiting for something. Something to come to her. Something that meant a lot to her.
Mrs. Miller glanced over at little Rose from the living room couch. She watched her pace from side to side, right besides the door.
"Rose, dear, pacing is not very refined." she spoke softly as she sat up straight and tall. But quickly was disappointed to see that Rose was not listening.
"Rosaria, stop your pacing, now." she squawked. Mrs. Miller quickly stood up and walked over to young Rose. She snatched her arm and drug her over to the couch.
"Why aren't you listening to me? You def. child?" she shook her angrily. Rose could smell the bitter sweet tang of whine on her breath.
"No ma'am." she responded simply looking back over at the door.
"Then why aren't you listening to me?!" Mrs. Miller hissed.
"Cause, I don't want to." and with that Rose shook away Mrs. Millers grip and ran into her room. Rose slammed the door shut behind her. Her frail body slid down the wooden frame of the door, as she sat down. The palms of her hands pressed up against her eyes as if she was trying to expel all the tears she was about the shed. Mrs. Miller, and Mr. Miller hated Rose. They hurt her, smacked her, beat her, and laughed as she cried. The only person who had ever loved her was Elizabeth, well... and now someone known as him.
Slowly, Rose stood up and began to pace around her room. Memories of her past fluttered in her mind. Memories of her sweet mother, and her loving father that she once had. Memories of a tall, dark man also appeared in her mind as well. His coat wrapped tightly around him, and his face covered by a ski mask. Then it went dark.
A single tear rolled down her cheek, for though she couldn't remember the rest of her past. She still knew that her beloved parents weren't with her anymore. The tear rolled down her cheek slowly, causing a salty trail to flow behind it. Rose allowed the tear to drip off her chin. As soon as that tear dropped to the wooden flooring bellow, a loud rapping sound came from her window near her bed. Rose snapped her head over towards the window. She watched as a quick shadow moved and disappeared. Rose timidly moved towards the window. Her heart began to race. Who could this be? What did they want?
Roses hand reached out for the small latch that opened the window. Her entire body shook as she opened it up. Her head peered out into the bright summer world. The smell of sweet lilac rang in the air. Her brow furrowed, as she glanced around again. How could there be a smell of lilac, if the Millers didn't have any lilacs? Her eyes then gazed down at a small parchment that laid on the window pane. A smile grew on Roses lips and she quickly snatched it up.
"Its another letter." she sighed as she looked it over. Her name was written on the front of it, in the same childish writing.
Rose ripped the seal from the envelope and unfolded the small note.
Dear My Sweet,
Your the apple of my eye. Remember, your special to me. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
love Him
Roses smile grew as she read the note to herself again. Him had done it again. His sweet words had won her over, and allowed her to forget the mean things the Millers had done. Rose closed her eyes and soaked in the small note. It seemed like she stood there for hours, holding, gripping that precious note of hers. Finally, Rose moved over to her closet, and opened it. There, on the ground was the shoe box that she had placed the first letter. Rose dropped the second note down with the first before closing the closet door.
"So, he is out there, and he's watching over me." she sighed happily.

Nine painful years passed. Rose grew from a young timid girl, to a strong sixteen year old with a lot of heart. Though with every hit, by the Millers, made her stronger, it also weakened her heart. They just proved to her that no one in this cruel world loved her. Well, all but one. Him loved her, or so he acted. Letters poured in every week by him. Each reassuring and loving. Each placing a smile on Roses face, and each giving her a reason to live. It so happened that one letter was sent on her sixteenth birthday.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday day dear Rosaria, happy birthday to you. " sang the Millers as they placed a small cupcake, with a candle sticking out of it. Typical of them, giving her the least. They never got her the best toys, only the hand me downs, and the cheapest. They never treated her like their sweet grandchildren, they always forgot her.
A whisper of air flew out of Roses mouth as she began making her wish. The wish she had wished for nine years. It was to see him, and find out who he was. Rose had clung on to that wish, but with each passing year she was disappointed to see he wasn't there. He wasn't there to save her from the beatings of the Millers, and he wasn't there to wipe away all her tears and sorrows of that day. But still, she seemed to grow more hope.
Rose slowly blew out the lonely flame, and watched its light die in front of her. A sound of thunderous clapping echoed her mind as she watched the Millers smile down upon her. Both smiles looked fake, and forced upon. Their pearly white teeth mocked Rose, saying how perfect they were, and where Roses weren't.
Rose grasped the small cupcake and took a bite out of it. The taste of its bitter sweet coco hit her tongue. She lightly closed her eyes and began to savoir the coco. It tasted so good to her, she absolutely loved it. But her love for the coco was short lived when the cupcake was snatched from her hands.
"Rose!! Wait till after dinner!" scolded Mrs. Miller as she placed the cupcake on the counter.
Even though Rose was now sixteen, she still had that seven year old little girl stuck in her, so she pouted and moved on to her room. She knew that dinner wasn't going to be ready in for another hour, and yet she was still hungry. Her stomach growled, and ached as she walked into her room. It was just begging her for food, and for that cupcake. Her mouth watered as she remembered the taste of the bitter sweet coco. She needed that cupcake!
Ever so slowly, Rose crept out of her room and moved silently to the kitchen. She kept low as she saw Mrs. Miller cook her famous soup. Quickly, Rose walked over to the cupcake and snatched it off the counter, before running off with it. Her heart raced as she shut the door and leaned up against it. Her hands trembled as she took another bite out of the cupcake. Memories flooded into her mind. Memories of how her mother baked her a chocolate cake when she was three. Rose loved that cake, she devoured it in seconds and demanded for more.
A rapping at her window awakened her from her day dreaming. Rose quickly walked over to it with a huge smile on her face. She knew exactly who it was. Rose unlatched the window and swung it open to reveal a small envelope sitting there. She snatched it up and tore open the seal. The smell of lilacs filled her room.
Dear my sweet,
Happy sixteenth birthday, my love. I have watched them, and heard their words. I just want you to know, you are perfect to me. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I will forever love you, and I will forever be with you.
Yours truly,
Him
Her smile grew even bigger once she read the note. It just made her entire day. This must have been the best birthday 'present' she had ever gotten. What makes it even better was who had given it to her. Him was the kindest person out there right now, and she loved him for that.
Rose slowly walked over to the closet, and moved to the shoe box in the corner. There sat a pile od letters that seem to over flow the box. She allowed the letter to slip out of her hands, and float down to the box. Once it hit the other letters, Rose closed the closet door and walked back to her bed. As soon as she sat down, she heard a roar from the kitchen. Thunderous foot steps came from the hall. Rose tried to hide, but it was to late. Mrs. Miller swung the door open and glared down upon Rose. Her eyes flared like fire, and her breath smelled like smoke.
"You b*tch!" she screamed at her. "I told you not to eat the d*mn cupcake!"
Slowly Mrs. Miller extended her boney hand and slapped Rose across the face.
"How dare you disobey me! After all we have done for you, after all the work and care we have given you, you repay us with disobeying! You spoiled child!" her voice boomed across the house. "Since you already have eaten, I guess you won't be having dinner with us!" and with that she stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind her.
Rose laid sprawled out on the bed, with her hand to her cheek. It burned, and the hand of Mrs. Miller began to show. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks as well, causing it to burn even more. Thoughts of the letter fluttered in her mind.
I will forever be with you. it said. Where was he now for her? Where was he now?
