appearance wrote:rose is nothing special when it comes to looks. she has long waist-length brown hair that she literally does nothing with. it's actually very nice hair. rather thick, it cascades over rose's shoulder in thick waves that knot often if she doesn't brush it daily. rose has never really considered getting her hair cut short; she's used to it the way it is right now. besides, although rose does not take good care of it by any definition, her hair is one of her best features. most of the time it just sits there, but for work-related activities, rose plans to put it in a low ponytail to keep it out of her face.
rose's brown eyes have perfect vision, which is really a blessing. they say eyes are the windows to the soul, and that's certainly true in rose's case. she finds it very hard to keep her emotions from her eyes, although she often manages to keep a straight face. with a finely formed nose and lightly sprinkled with freckles, rose's face greatly resembles that of her mother, which is rather a source of pain for her.
but it's also good - they say her mother was beautiful, once. maybe [rose hopes this is the case] she will grown well into her looks, and maybe turn out a great beauty. but that simply doesn't seem likely right now. rose is not clumsy, but she does not have her mother's natural grace. of course, some of that is due to the fact that rose just grew quite a bit, and is still doing so. at her barefoot height of five foot eight, rose tends to tower above the other females at her school. nothing else is really worth mentioning, except for maybe that rose has big feet, size eleven.
history wrote:rose was young, maybe five or so, when she was turned. that is far too young to be wandering the woods on your own. and transforming for the first time? forget it. terrifying, especially when you don't know what's going on. but i'm getting ahead of myself. this is the story of rose the werewolf, not the story of how rose felt. so let's go back to the beginning.
rose was young, maybe five or so, when she was turned. now most mothers don't let their kids wander around on their own - especially not when the kid in question is just five years old. but rose's mom's in jail now for child neglect [for leaving rose's brother in a burning hot car for four hours] so i guess you could see how it would happen. now, back when rose was turned, her brother was just a few months old. obviously he wasn't at the park where rose's mom forgot her daughter.
rose was terrified. imagine, five and being left at a park as night fell, not knowing how to get home. she heard noises and nearly screamed as a man shuffled into the park to sleep on a bench. rose sat on the swings, petrified in terror, staring only straight ahead. she couldn't move for fear - fear of the thing she knew was behind her. she could hear it now. she could feel its hot breath on the back of her neck. sweat beaded and fell down her forehead. and still rose didn't move, didn't make a sound.
until the thing bit her. and then she screamed.
the homeless man just turned over on his bench and kept sleeping as rose passed out on the swing. rose could feel her lifeblood draining away. but then... it didn't. the skin stiched itself back together with a burning, itching sensation. rose stopped bleeding. her hand found the perfectly smooth skin on the back of her neck where just a moment before a gaping wound had been. the blood staining her clothes was the only sign anything out of the ordinary had happened.
rose got up and began to walk, then run as fast as her tiny legs would carry her. she wanted out of this terrifying park. she would get home. and eventually she did, almost having collapsed from exhaustion. it was her father who opened the door and embraced her as her mother snored - she was drunk again - on the kitchen table behind him.
personality wrote:rose is scarred. she's got a dad who loves her but works double shifts, and a mom in jail - an alcoholic and abusive woman. but despite all odds, rose still turned out okay. she never did drugs, never snuck out, nothing of the sort. this is definitely due in part to the other wolves of the pack. they've helped give her something to escape to. because here's her secret - rose loves transforming. she hates herself, so being a wolf is the break she needs from reality. who cares if there's someone trying to kill her as long as she's free? she gets to run through the woods with people all around her. she's loyal to them to a fault. they're kind of her family. and although they aren't all the same and don't see eye to eye on most issues, rose gets along with most of the other werewolves.
she's smart too, rose is. she gets good grades in school and is highly analytical. the downside is that she can't really take a joke. she's afraid of bullies, and will react badly if she thinks someone's poking fun at her. it's not pretty - what ensues can get ugly in wolf form and uglier when she's human. rose is big as a wolf and human. unfortunately for those who oppose her, rose knows how to use her size although she generally avoids it.
