Does anyone here have a planning notebook/binder? Because I'm starting a binder to plan some novels and want to know what other's are like.

I'm actually re-designing my writing desk so it serves all of my needs as a writer. I can describe how I organize everything - including a binder - if you'd like...?

Yes. yes yes yes yes.
I have binders for every single story that I begin, whether I finish it or not. it's extremely helpful and keeps me on track. Without it my stories would just fall right through the cracks and I wouldn't be able to get anything done - nor keep the minor little details straight. It's a very useful thing if you plan to be professional with your writing. That way you can go back and see what you had planned and what didn't turn out the way you hoped or wanted. I always include several things:

- full character templates
- general story planning
- in detail plot planning and meaning
- pictures of anything/everything I come into contact with
- all the research
- first drafts
- notes of symbolism
- reminders for editing
- snippets or little scenes that I may want to add later, etc.
- comments, good and bad, from people that have reviewed whatever I've shown them.
- notes i make while writing
- word & character count
- final drafts (in it's own separate binder with nothing else inside it.)

Thanks for letting me know. I may not do that much but I probably will do something similar to that.

Anything you want us to know?: Hey there! I'm ~Koda~. I adore writing, as my life currently revolves around it. I have been meaning to come to Inklings, but I was worried I wasn't good enough.
Anyway, I have written 2 books previously, but gave up writing the third to write the Jewel Empire books. Book 1 is very short compared to its sequel, but an alright storyline. It's currently under maintenance. Links to JE Fanclubs and related things are on the posts. <3

Okay, so my desk is a simple wooden desk with three small drawers in one long drawer above my legs. Super simple. That long drawer keeps the following things;;

Binder (Will Describe After.)
Notebooks (3-4)
Notebook Paper
Extra Paper
2 Folders (For my Poetry.)

On the Desk I Keep the Following Things;;

Pen + Pencil Holder
Small clay Pot (I Keep Mints in There)
Pictures (Just a Few Picture Frames.)
Laptop
Notebook (For Writing, no duh...)

The Other 3 drawers are for me, just little things that I need stored someplace in my room. C:

Things in the Binder;;

Notebook Paper
First 10 pages are novel and story ideas
Next 10 pages are poetry. (When finished I moved them to my folder, and put more notebook paper in.)
Next 10 pages are where I hand-write stories
The rest of my pages go to covers, cursive, ink writing, and fanfictions.

So I'm going to be entering Rosie's post-apocalyptic writing competition, and I finally have a first draft of my entry. It's about 2000 words, and the genre is horror/fantasy/post-apocalyptic. Would anyone like to read it over for me, and give me some pointers? This is my first time writing something so dark, and I usually stink at short-stories, so I could really use some advice to tighten it up. It'd also be nice to know if it's properly creepy. :3 Would anyone be interested in critiquing it for me?

Being a newbie to this thread, (I just joined, what, three pages ago? X3) I would like some tips. I have quite a few stories myself, some ranging all the way back to edited tales from the third grade (my first stories). I'm young myself, and am probably among the youngest aspiring authors on here. (Not giving away much, but let's leave it at me saying that I'm in the middle of the middle. :3 I love riddles.) I would love to eventually post a story on this site, but have no idea if I have what it takes! Do you have any suggestions at all? I'd hate to have a story with a humiliating zero replies. (Welcome to my Oekaki world. XD)
On that note, what type of stories are popular? Are there any warriors fanfictions? Any popular stories you could recommend? c: Any help is greatly appreciated.
