Dakota listened carefully to the she wolf, River, who was her lead warrior. "They could have doubled in size, for all we know," she agreed with a short nod. As River continued to speak, Dakota became both intrigued and worried. A pup? Well, shoot. "A pup..." she muttered, shaking her head. "Then our situation is a little more tricky than I thought." Dakota had a kind heart, no doubt. It was the reason so many colored wolves had been accepted into the pack over the years. Before, every wolf had a mainly white or cream coat. Now there was a mix of reds and greys as well as the white. She still refused to let a black wolf be a member, but there were a couple packmates who were much darker and some wolves had been reluctant to accept them. Dakota was more understanding. However, this was slightly different situation.

Dakota wanted no harm to come to the pup, so if they went into battle then the pup would have to be spared. "River, you will lead a group at dusk to investigate the area. Roo, you'll join her... Where's Blitzen?" She wondered aloud, her gaze seeking out her Beta. "Anyway, take another warrior and hunter with you and find out as much as you can about them. You'll leave as soon as the sun begins to set." She concluded with a nod of confirmation.

"Careful, Shasta." Roman muttered to the pup who had just leaped off of the high rock after a butterfly. He chuckled to himself and then shifted his attention to Kobus, who had just approached. Roman's ears perked up as the Delta came closer, and Roman briefly dipped his head in greeting. "Take someone with you, Kobus. You're a capable wolf, but the Ashen Wood pack already know we're here, no doubt. I don't want to lose my delta at the paws of them." He commented. When Lothair came up clutching the limp body of a rabbit in his jaws, Rowan's spirits lifted. "Thank you, Lothair. Shasta will probably love you forever now." he joked lightheartedly. Then upon hearing the news about the herd, Roman was greatly pleased, though he knew they would still have competition for the prey. The prey would be plentiful for one pack alone, but there were two in this land. There would still be a challenge in getting enough prey for everyone.

Roman didn't have a chance to think about it for long, though. There was an unknown scent in the breeze, and it was fresh. He froze and his hackles rose almost instantaneously. Out of instinct, Roman leaped off the high rock after Shasta and stood in front of her, using his muzzle to nudge her behind him. "Kobus, come with me. Lothair... keep an eye on Shasta." he commanded, padding out of the clearing to meet the intruder. Was this one of the pack wolves? She had a different scent. Maybe she was a loner... "Who are you?" No other way to find out than to confront her, so he did. Roman regarded the she wolf with a skeptical gaze.

River bow her head in respect of Dakota's decision, she was more happy that she was allowed to scope out the Hollow Hills pack. She knew that having pup within their pack would make it harder for them to get their point across not only that if they killed off a majority of the Hollow Hills the pup would grow up as an enemy and River wasn't keen on that idea. But of course she didn't question what her Alpha was thinking, she had gone them this far during the harsh winters and shortage of food. To River she admired Dakota's strength and courage for keeping the pack in order and shape, flicking her ear River looked up at the sun, seeing she will be going out later than normal River decided some sleep would be nice before the sunset "Well seeing am patrolling in the late afternoon, I think i might get some rest now, is there anything else you need Dakota?" River didn't want to fall asleep without checking that she was need for something, River was slightly looking forward to scoping the pack at dusk but she knew the day would go slowly until then.

Lothair chuckled at Roman's words, suddenly a strangers scent wafted past his nose. Pricking his ears up Lothair was curiosity as to why a stranger was coming here, hearing Roman saying to looking after the pup. Lothair bowed his head before picking up the rabbit, he watched as Roman and Kobus when of to investigate. He patted over to Shasta and place the rabbit near her "This is for you" he said softly before he laid down next to her, "If your father agrees, i could take you one your first hunting trip this afternoon?" Lothair said quietly but he knew Roman would want to take Shasta out first before allowing anyone else from the pack to.

Roo calmed himself enough to an almost silent growl, allowing others to speak however keeping his anger still on the surface. He remained still as Dakota spoke, his sign of respect towards the fae as he could do not much more. The brute bared his teeth at River's words, aware now the the Hollow Hills had actually claimed the territory as their own.

Ryck silenced himself once again as the fae finished, giving Dakota a nod before dismissing himself to get a bit of rest before dusk. He turned to River, his ears pointed and his tail holding it's typical stance between Delta and hunter/warrior. Anger was still written in the muscles of the brindle wolf's face, although he was controlled enough to not make a deal out of it. The brute actually went back to his normal, silent version of angry. "We should take Mercy and either Exodus or Katani. I know that Dakota said one hunter and one fighter, but if it comes down to it, I do not think my hunters would stand up and fight." He told the same-rank fae. Most hunters weren't hunters because they were good at it, they were hunters because they couldn't fight. He didn't mean to make Katani and Raiza sound weak, but they didn't really have the drive or strength to fight head-to-head with multiple wolves.

Shasta was just like in a happy world! " yes! I wanna be a hunter! But I also wanna be a fighter" she discussed.. " oh and I'm very thankful for you getting me this rabbit, and watching me" she said politely And she started to eat. After she finished a bite, she looked up " can we play attack? It's where your from a DIFFRENT pack, trying to invade, and I use my fabulous fighting skills to bring you down! Okay?" She asked excitedly. She was so excited that her whole body was shaking eagerly!

Kobus let a slight smile creep onto his face when Roman mentioned he should bring another with him. He was about to respond, then Lothair showed up and a new topic popped up. Hmm, apparently the elk herd was growing, based on what the warrior had stated. That was certainly good news. He grinned once again when Lothair gave Shasta the rabbit. The ebony brute shook his coat once again, then an unknown wolf scent blew around. The brute looked around, his eyes narrowed. He knew the scent was not one of this pack. Perhaps it was an Ashen Wood spy! Kobus bristled at the thought and growled under his breath.

Kobus immediately tensed. His ears flattened, the fur on his neck bristling, his lips pulling back in a snarl. When Roman confirmed it and told Kobus to go with him, he didn't hesitate to follow. His tail flicked and he stood by his Alpha, somewhat calmed. He held his head higher and perked his ears, careful to pick up any response to Roman's beckoning. He scanned the forest floor, watchful for any leaves to move. The wolf scent slowly came closer, and Kobus growled quietly, a low, threatening noise. His ears flickered with every noise, his eyes darting to any movement. Kobus looked at Roman, the back out before them.

River patted away from Dakota and stopped suddenly when Ryck stood in front of her. River flicked her ear and listened to his words thoughtfully knowing he was righting in bringing an extra wolf just in case. "I was thinking of bring Exodus and Katani " River was thinking of Katani because she is able to ran fast for help if it was needed, flicking her ear she wondered if Ryck would agree with her idea. River didn't want to take too much as they weren't ment to be looking for a fight only scoping it out, although she wanted the best fighter out there or at least the best runners if they bump into any trouble which hopefully wasn't the case.

Lothair flicked his ear in amusement as he watched Shasta, chuckling he patted the rabbit with his paw "Eat another bite and then we will play Attack" Lothair had played the same game when he was pup and he knew it helped the pups to learn the proper skills of fighting, but with the mention of invade Lothair had to shiver down his back knowing that it might come to that eventually between the two packs. He hoped it was soon but of course Lothair wasn't good at predicting what would happen, looking at Shasta, he could she had the equalities of both a Hunter and a Fighter. He knew Roman preferred her to be a hunter, but looking at Shasta know Lothair could see her as a warrior, chuckling to himself Lothair stretched waiting for Shasta to finish another mouthful before playing Attack.

A heavy sigh escaped Dakota as River and Ryck both dispersed. Finally. She respected them both, but the pressure to jump into battle was growing too much for her. She was relieved when they went off to discuss who to bring later when they would go out and get a better look at who they were up against. Dakota had dealt with many things in her leadership, but a rival wolf pack wasn't one of them. From loners intruding on the land, to fires and floods, to the harshest of winters and all things in between, she had managed to keep the pack alive. But this wasn't her strong suit. Another pack? In the land of Ashen Wood? It was something she had certainly not been expecting. And Dakota had finally decided that she was going to do what she needed to do and was almost ready to plan a battle, and then a pup got involved in the situation. Dakota wasn't fazed by many things, but she was by this. She had too soft a heart to harm a pup, even if it was from a rival pack and would probably hate her in the end anyway. She still couldn't imagine it without her heart aching and a strong feeling of guilt stirring in her.

"Where is Zen...?" She muttered to herself, white head swinging from one side to the other as she scanned the camp clearing. Blitzen was one of the few wolves in the pack she really trusted. He was the beta, her second-in-command, and also the wolf that she went to whenever she needed advice. This was one of those times, and she was intent on consulting with him before making any major decisions.

Sasha didnt argue, instead she took one last bite, and chewed as fast as she could, super excited, she almosted choked! The red wolf pup setted her food aside and she backed up, " I'm ready! One.... Two three!" She counted. And she immediately crouched, backing up just a bit, her paws in the correct shape, and so was her tail. She was very light , and so she was fast. She leaped forward, almost as if she flied off the ground, and her big paws that she hasn't grown into was placed on his shoulders, keeping her form steady, yet light.

Rebel // Female // Warrior // Hollow Hills

"My name's Rebel." Rebel stated calmly, dipping her head in politeness. She figured that this wolf must be the alpha of the pack, so she would have to show whatever courage she had to persuade him to let her join his pack. "I'm not here to do any harm, I come here with a request; to join your pack." Rebel took a deep breath and raised her head to his level, meeting his eyes, showing no trace of fear on her face, even though nerves were eating her away from the inside. If you want to show him you're worthy to be of his pack, you must not show fear in confronting him about it. Play it smart, Rebel, keep yourself calm and collective. She reminded herself over and over again, hoping that her new strategy would work, and that they'd welcome her into their pack; the last times where she had come off as a bit mysterious and shy-ish hadn't ended up all to well, and she feared most that this strategy would not work either, yet remained positive to keep her feeble spirit alive.
