I have a character named Osaka after Coldplay's 'Lovers in Japan'.
I'm always slightly embarrassed to say it because I've gotten reactions like, "that's stupid. Osaka is a place, not just from a song." or "woah, we got one of those generic Asian obsessives over here". But I mean, I'm aware it's a place, I have no connection to that place though, I enjoy the song. And I really am not interested in Asian cultures more so than most people.
