If this has all ready been suggested, I apologize. I read through the stickies and didn't find anything else about this.
Plain and simple, I see a lot of use in having the option to tag other users in post (like you would on facebook).
-- People are bound to mispell names... how would this work?
- People allready type @Usernamehere, it would be simple to do it this way so that when this is typed you recieve a notification
- OR one could be notified when quoted, no misspelling possible
-- Why not just inbox them... no new coding required?
- Inbox is private, lets say the information is useful to others too. Like the value of a red toxic compared to a BEG, people may need this information in the future but the poster needs this information too.
- Inboxing puts the information in several locations, like when a user needs information for an art shop. Its better for all of the information to be on the art thread its self.
-- When would we even use this though?? D:
- Advice threads, one person post a question and two other users talk about something else for a few post. After checking 6 or 7 times only to find that no one has replied yet the user may stop checking and miss the advice they were seeking.
- Moar advice threads, you get a few responses to your question and thank those that help you. You're a good user, you check back a few post after the subject of your trade/art/pet has been dropped and nobody is responding anymore so you go about your buisness and miss an important opinion directed at you.
- Art shops, you've worked your way through to a certain users request after three weeks and the chances that they're still watching your thread are slim but for some reason they didn't give you a reference. You could PM them but then the reference will be buried in your inbox. If you tag them, the reference will be neatly stashed away on your art thread for easy access.
