Ancient Cultures Special #7- Ancient Africa

Postby SerenWish » Thu Jun 06, 2013 3:06 pm

Well, yes, they're back! I'm going to be gone for a bit, so I thought i'd continue these!

Here is # 7 in my “Ancient Cultures” series- Ancient Africa! These ponies are all based on ancient cultures- their customs, history, and myths. Each one is special, for more reasons then just appearance!

-All of the ponies are based on a different culture.
-They all come in unusual colors and/or patterns.
- All of them have a special accessory.
-They are all customizable- you can have painted markings (like glyphs, etc.) added if you win them, all you have to do is ask!
- All of these ponies can pass down accessories to their foals! Not just the ones you see either!

In order to win this lass, just fill out the form! I will be judging on effort in the creative area, interesting names, and of course, correct answers in the trivia portion! Don’t worry if you aren't sure of the answers, correct answers boost your likelihood of winning her, but a good creative piece goes just as well.

This mare’s foals can have: Ivory Bracelet, Beaded Necklace, Mask (Some accessories might cost a bit extra to get, depending on how difficult they are.)

I want a legend for this lady, starring some other animals as well as her! Try to make a myth and such, maybe on how the sun rises, or where storms come from.

Animal Myth Starring this Mare:
How the Sunset came
Long ago on the plains where the zebra and antelope so carefully played was first created a little horse was made name Moja ya Mzuri. This little horse was the color of the firey red sun, as it blazed high in African sky. After a while the sun was baring down so hard that the animals were flocking to the watering holes only to find a small bit of water to quench their dry and cracked lips. Mzuri, while at the watering hole, caught a small bit of a conversation between to Blue Cranes. "Maybe one of us can fly up there and pull the sun down?"
"That's not going to work. Maybe a zebra could kick it down, or rear and pull the sun down.."
Mzuri's ears pricked forward and she looked towards the sun, and with all the strength she had she ran towards the sun feeling the heat making her skin as hot as fire, and once she was close enough Mzuri reared up as high as she could. With a burst of color and a whinny the sun was pulled lower and it was now the color of Mzuri's firey red coat. It's said to this day you can still see the horse rearing to pull the sun down to cool the animals of Africa.

Trivia:

Who was Anansi?
Anansi (/əˈnɑːnsi/ ə-nahn-see) the trickster is a West African God. He often takes the shape of a spider and is considered to be the god of all knowledge of stories. He is also one of the most important characters of West African and Caribbean folklore.
He is also known as Ananse, Kwaku Ananse, and Anancy; and in the Southern United States he has evolved into Aunt Nancy. He is a spider, but often acts and appears as a man.
The Anansi tales are believed to have originated in the Ashanti people in Ghana. (The word Anansi is Akan and means, simply, spider.) They later spread to other Akan groups and then to the West Indies, Suriname, and the Netherlands Antilles. On Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire he is known as Nanzi, and his wife as Shi Maria.
