@amber., That's an excellent question! I myself have always preferred third person limited (occasionally third person limited omniscient), for reasons that I can't quite put a finger on. I've always been hesitant to step out of my comfort zone (which works to my detriment), and third person has always been my go-to perspective.
I think that there are certainly advantages to each one! First person is very up close and personal; it provides an intimate view of the world the narrator is living in. It's reader-friendly, I guess -the narrator is talking to you, 'confiding' in you, almost. It can be tricky, though, because you have to have a deep understanding of who the character is before you can get into their head. You have to be careful to write in a way that reflects their education, their intelligence, their personality, experiences, etc. As well, if you're looking to be published -certain genres have a predisposition for or against that narrative style.
The benefits to third person are also numerous; it is a very flexible writing style. You can choose to be almost as personal as first person if you choose third person limited with a single character whose thought processes are quite enunciated and commented upon. You can write in the perspectives of two, or three, or four, or ten different characters -either by devoting certain chapters/sections to them (limited omniscient), or leaping from character to character (true omniscient). Third person is the most common perspective to write in (excluding teen fiction, where, apparently, first person has become more prevalent), so it won't much impact your chances of being published, no matter which genre you're working on.
There are a plethora of reasons, but I believe the pros and cons tend to balance each other out -it all boils down to personal preference, really. :p

I love your answer. It basically sums up everything I was curious about. Whenever I ask people these questions I always seem to get negative feedback. Not in the sense that they dislike the question, but rather they seem far too focused on the bad things to writing in either point of view.

It also helped me greatly that you gave a small overview of each writing style. I've been trying for a week or two to figure out exactly what style I'm writing in. I'd say it is more a combination of true omniscient and third person. Whether that is good or bad... I have yet to determine.

As of starting off a general conversation...
What type of characters do you guys love the most? What do you hate?

I love characters that are relatable. It doesn't matter if they are a rebel without a cause, a shy wallflower, or a stereotypical jock. If they are going through a struggle, whether it is to find themselves, or any such struggle, I'm drawn to them.
(If I had to pick one, it'd be a character that is a wallflower. One who is shy or quiet, enjoys things such as photography, writing, reading, etc.)

If I had to hate on one type of character, it'd be characters that are whiny. There is a very fine line between struggling and persevering and struggling and whining constantly about it. I have one particular character in mind made famous by tv. I hate her. She complains nonstop, at least it appears that way to me.

General Question...

How long do your chapters or writing sessions tend to be? (As far as word count or length)

I always feel like mine seem short. I'm not sure if it is because they are mostly unfinished or if it is because I haven't developed the idea enough.

Any thoughts?

Well, mine are usually about 1,654 words, give or take a few words. Or about three pages for me. But that's for fanfics, since people don't like to read a lot at once. For my original ideas maybe six or eight pages?

I could write for a while if time let me xD. But at the moment, I seem to be writing 5,000-6,000 words a week? Not much I know, but I've only just got my writing juices running again.

Also, I would much prefer it if you were active on chicken smoothie and don't keep me waiting a month before you start to be active!
Why: Not really xD Just really excited to write a collab with someone! I've only began to write a collab with someone once before, but they became inactive and the whole thing sort of just faded out, so I'm really excited to start one with someone who is active.
Other: I am on chicken smoothie at least once a day, if not twice, or thrice, and I often write in the morning. For communication methods, PM works for me!
