Ratchie. Rat|Male|Hunter|No Crush|With; No one|Feeling; Content|
Ratchie's body sunk to the ground and he began to creep forward, ears forward as his belly fur skimmed against the soft blades of grass. His eyes twinkled gently with a hunter's twist to it, the look of the chase in his dusty golden eyes. His nose constantly twitched as his speed slowed, inching forward as he got closer. His ear twitched while the other swiveled around, in moments they faced forward, Ratti's eyes locked on his prey. A young deer, a doe, certainly easier to catch, due to the lack of antlers. But, Rat knew he still had to watch out for the dagger-like hooves deer use to bound away, though in a panicked state work just as well to beat a wolf silly. But since this doe was fairly young, it seemed like a semi-easy hunt. It would be challenging, but he didn't consider what may happen if he didn't return into camp with food hanging from his jaws. His eyes shined, crouched behind a bush he was, as the doe ducked her head to graze, only paying attention to the sound he jaws made as she chewed, and the taste of the juices squeezing out of the long blades she picked. She had large, black eyes that looked everywhere, darting here and there, though she showed no real fear. The mammal did not know someone was watching, waiting, and wanting to capture her. Out of the tiny-leafed bush Ratchie sprang, and immediately went to work. The doe was in shock, quickly going to her instincts and she raced away, Ratti tailing her.
Blood pumped through his system, panting hard he pressed further, gaining speed. He got closer, closer... His only thought was to bring this animal down. He chased her, the deer, light on her toes pressed on, not speeding up but not showing signs of tiring down. Ratti pressed further, faster, until he lunged forward with one leap, taking his chances and extending his forepaws out, his jaws wide in attempt to grab the doe and pull it down. If he missed or wasn't fast enough, he'd topple over and loose the catch. He felt something touch his paws while in the air, his mouth clamped shut on whatever he could grab, then he dropped his body, using his weight to slow the deer down. Eventually she stood while he lay, his jaws still in her neck, as she refused to sit, knowing she'd be devoured if she did. She bleated, pleading for help, she was tired and with a wolf pulling her down, made her want to give up.
Eventually she lay down too. But the two animals weren't laying down as in relaxing, the canine used his weight to bring her down and she was still struggling. A battle between predator and prey. She panted, desperate for breath. Ratchie used this time to catch his own, while draining her from her air. Choking her, she faded. Soon after Ratti let go, but didn't eat yet. The deer was not dead and Rat was aware of that, but decided it was too weak anyway. He panted as he lay, cooling down from the run when he shot up like a rocket. The deer had got up and bolted, but it was still close. It was tired and barely had any air in it's lungs, so Ratti chased after her, this time easier than earlier. The deer was out of breath and collapsed again, Ratchie holding onto the neck of the hoofed creature. This time the animal, locked in his jaws fell limp.
