Dragon Delights { the JMD cafe }

Slowly reaching towards the door she spies the 'Help Wanted' sign, starting to rethink her decision.
Is the money really worth it? Well, maybe...
As she opens the door, a strong mix of aromas filled with coffee beans and pasties hit her nose. Pleasantly sniffing around she approaches the front desk. "May I get a job here?"

The female watched as many JMDs came and went. Today was unbearingly uneventful. Her tail wrapped itself around her leg as she sipped at the latte. Her straight posture made her look taller than some of the JMDs slouching into their seats, and her butterfly wings added a sense of regalness. But Divi wasn't feeling regal-in fact, she was quite lonely. She pulled her haze from Neige and Berlin to see a bright and colourful JMD approaching her. She had a wreath of flowers, and one tucked behind her ear.
"Hello, miss. Would you mind if I sat here?" the stranger asked. "Sure!" the clear-jewel responded. She looks... familiar. But from where? the twilight child thought to herself. Oh, don't be silly. You've never met her before.

Paradise could tell that Divine was down, so she said. "You shouldn't feel so down. You look beautiful. My name's Paradise, by the way. What's yours?" She paused and giggled. "I'm sure it's beautiful as well!"
But not being able to pin down when and where she'd seen this fairy-like JMD was starting to bug her. Maybe she'd met a lookalike? Yeah, make that was it. She'd met a lookalike once before, obviously a while ago and for a short time if she didn't remember the face clearly. Divine's vague familiarity ceased to bug Paradise now.

Ara entered the cafe in a dark blue, Victorian shirt and blue jeans. She sat down in a place only to realize she was somewhat close to Divine. She glanced at her for a painful moment before looking at her silvery hands. She wanted to restore her friendship with Divine. but she felt betrayed. Divine could have at least told her she wanted to start dating Neige before Ara found out at the same time as everyone else. Best friends tell best friends what is going on... what was I to her? she asked herself. Ara sighed softly and waited for a worker to come take her order.

The purple one tried to dismiss the thought. But it kept coming back to bug her. When the bright and blotchy one introduced herself as Paradise, she practically froze in her seat. "You... You wouldn't be... Paradise Agnes-Elizabeth Morado, would you?" she whispered in her own disbelief. "So that's why I thought I'd seen you around... I met you years ago! You were stripping off your clothing in my backyard and I tried to turn you in!" she said a bit louder, her voice growing panicky. It was all coming together. "And my sister, Minerva, tried to catch you afterwards. You're a Morado! I'm a Xianthus! Oh my god, you r family is responsible for Deveroux's death!" she said in almost a scream. She saw Ara walk in, but that was the least of her worries. She didnt know what to do.

Paradise's stomach and every other part of her dropped through her feet, no, the floor, as she broke out in a cold sweat. "Your family killed my brother Alex..." Paradise whispered in horror, mismatched eyes huge. "Oh my god...oh...oh...no..." She bit her paw to wake herself up from her nightmare...then realized she was awake. "No."
And she realized that she'd possibly hurt Divine's sister when she had been captured by her...she'd been dehydrated and a touch crazy at the time when she'd gotten her jewel power. Oh NO.
The Xianthus family no doubt wanted the runaway Morado dead. Sweet continuation of a nasty cycle of revenge. The Xianthuses had killed Alexander Morado, when he was 12 and she was just about to turn 7. Then her father Octavian Morado had Deveroux killed in revenge. It would make sense that the cycle of revenge would circle back to Paradise. Killing her would leave Octavian without an heir to the business. Not that Paradise wanted to run a big business anyway...
"I swear I had nothing to do with Deveroux. I was just a little kid locked in her room with a nanny 24/7. I never would want him killed." Her voice was shaky and ear silent. "Please believe me," she begged.

A million thoughts rushed through Divine's head. Is she here to kill me? Are there assassins outside, killing Bruce (her bodyguard)? Does she have a hidden knife and is only pretending to be surprised to get my guard down? Her arms made robotic movements as they reached into the pocket of her cotton-candy blue miniskirt. Her fingers latched around a silver iPhone, pressed the speed dial for a number, then hung up. Shortly after a shiny white limo pulled up in front of the cafe. She wanted to bring Ara with her, but she doubted she would want to come. No time. The butterfly winged dragon made her escape out the front door. Her body guard followed afterward in a quick jog as they entered the limousine, then they were off.
Ohymygodohmygodohmygod!!! Divine thought frantically. The driver leaned back and asked, "What happened?"
"I... There was a Morado in there! I almost died, Francis! Oh my god!" she sobbed as her hands went to her face in stress. "Send an escort to get her out! My ami and boyfriend are in there! Don't turn her in, though! Mr. Morado might not want her anymore or could have gotten her back." she spoke quickly.
And they were gone.
