You are both very much accepted! Thanks for joining! c:

So, to throw a general question out into the air -do you guys have any strategies for coping with the dreaded writer's block when it comes a-calling?

Music and chocolate will definitely help xD. And also I find that if you just start off with doing small, 100 or so worded stories to begin with and gradually get bigger until your back to novel-writing mode, will help a bit as well. But this might only work for me....haha.

{{Also I've changed my name from ~*Irish Rose to Lorde. :D

What sorts of music do you guys find helpful for stimulating inspiration -I've heard a few times that solely instrumental pieces have a more positive effect on writing than their lyrical counterparts; does that tend to ring true? c:

@Lorde., Duly noted! I'll change it up at the front (perhaps I should include a username-change form as well). And, chocolate helps with everything. :p And, that actually makes quite a bit of sense... I may have to put that stepping-stone method into use soon, as I've been attempting to leap right into my novel from nowhere -I haven't written much the entire school year, and my mental muscles have weakened, it seems. Glad to help ;)

And music choices....Hmm, really depends on what you're planning on writing! If you actually have no idea what you want to write, I'd suggest music with inspirational lyrics, or any lyrics you think has another story to tell. But if you have an idea and you want to expand on it, I'd listen to instrumentals you think suit the mood you're trying to write.

    ^ +1
I agree with Lorde. c: If I'm writing a piece with a lot of action or drama, I listen to some of Mark Petrie's compositions. If it's a sad part and I'm "trying to get into my character's thoughts" (so to speak), I'll go through my music folders looking for a song that makes me sad. I try to get in the mood that my character might be feeling and "become" that character.
But...much of the time I'm writing, I'll be listening oldies - John Denver, Elvis Presley, James Darren, Frankie Avalon, anything on my playlist. It's just my kind of music - it gets my juices going.

Username: amber.
Nickname(s): Amber, Amberderp
Writing Preferences: I am a novelist. I prefer to write Romance and Fantasy. I would love to get into FanFic's but I am afraid that I won't do the actual characters justice.
Writing Experience: I haven't been writing long but I have been Roleplaying for years. The two are very much different. I would like to take classes but I haven't. I have no idea... Compared to some it would be much higher, maybe a 7, and then to others it might be lower such as a 5.
Current Project(s): I am currently, very slowly, writing something. I'm not entirely sure where I want to go with it. I know I should plan it out, create a general outline and stuff but I just haven't. The link is here
Other: My muse likes to vanish for very lengthy periods of times. It only seems to be available very late at night and while listening to music. I usually write based on things I "imagined" while listening to music, even if it may be a random image.
I also really love One Tree Hill. It's my guilty pleasure.

Both amber. and One Day More are accepted! Thank you both very much for joining! c:

@Lorde. & .:: MacGyver ::., Thank you both for that! Perhaps I should begin to compile myself a sort of writing playlist, or playlists. c: I do believe instrumentals would be more personally suited to me, as I have a tendency to sing along to everything loudly and off-key, which is mildly detrimental to the writing process. :p

On another note -how do you guys find yourselves plotting your novels?
I've found myself stuck in a sort of all-or-nothing rut; I'll either spend so long plotting something that I lose my muse and leave it to rot, or do absolutely no plotting whatsoever, and leap right in and end up getting stuck at some point. D: It may be two pages in, it may be 27, but it always happens. I've heard a lot of praise for the recipe-card method, and the basic plot triangle.
