She is a new character, made up for the movie... because otherwise the hobbit is kind of a guy fest

it's kind of like what they did for the avengers movie they made nick fury black to add diversity. he was originally white it's done alot in movies they add in maybe one or two characters too make it seem diverse .3.

I know that Legolas is prince of Mirkwood, over 3000 years old, and that the hobbit is a guy fest (:p that made me laugh) Peter Jackson really needs to stop changing things.

I bet you he's sipping coffee going, 'Oooh to tick off the Lotr fans lets add a ginger elf chick and Legolas in there!'

I also realized that the elf ears look a bit different.

I'm honestly not too worried anymore. I was before I saw the trailer, but now I'm glad PJ put Legolas in the movie, because it does make sense. And as far as Tauriel goes, we have to remember; PJ made the greatest (and I believe the highest grossing) film trilogy in existence; I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing.

I don't know what to comment, I feel like a person with natural retardation and an IQ lower than 50, when you talk about movies.
Here, all we talk about is the European Union, how many languages do children nowadays must learn and what will you become when you grow up.

Anyways, Tauriel seems quite interessting and I believe she will be a great addition to this guy fest. Maybe there would be some kind of elven chemistry.
Who knows.
I'm just making asumptions.

Nice to see that I'm not the only person who doesn't hate Tauriel XD
In fact, I like her. ^^ Archer, Elf, red Hair.... and that epic sentence "When did why allow evil to become stronger than us?" ^^

I'm quite annoyed about some (many...) comments on the youtube videos of the trailer. Seems like they all have already seen the movie.

On a german one, a guy wrote what PJ can't say (or literally: "is an idiot") that Smaug is the "greatest danger of them all" (trailer sentence), because Frodo and Aragorn already fought against a giant spider and the armys of Mordor years before the hobbit... PLEASE go jump into Mount doom XD XD

I personally like Tauriel as well. She seems like a great add to the movie, and as Erebor said, we really do need to remember PJ probably has a really good plan up his sleeve for adding her.
