I blame the furry fandom.

Why? Think about this; most of the outspoken "LOVE ME FOR WHO I AAAAAMMMMM" furries are nutbags. They're the ones that do everything the media capitalizes on. If there weren't the nutbag furries giving the media something to report on, we wouldn't have all the bad press.

Besides, you have to be out of your damn mind to publically admit some of the things you do with relations to the fur fandom. And you'd have to be out of your damn mind (or very starved for attention) to admit to kinky fursuit times on the Tyra Show of all places. How low can you go?

tl;dr: The bad press furries get is a nightmare of their own making.

Sadly if thats the case im sure I add to it...I am considered by many to be a nutbag. Although I do enjoy being crazy.

Ah, yes, very true... I know a guy who's a few years older than me-- he's a friend of mine-- who said the majority of his school was strongly anti-furry, and you know that we have the nutbags to blame. D:

Usually, or at least around kids my age, they seem to admit that they're furry or that they do something weird because they wanna stand out from the crowd, and like you said, they want attention.

When I'm around my best friend, I sometime discuss furry fandom with him, even though he isn't a furry-- he knows I am and respects it fully-- But just the same we don't discuss any weird parts. Ever. :U My friend knows that some furries can be nutjobs, as I've explained to him, and discussion going into the quirky parts of it and how much I or anyone does is really no ones business, unless perhaps you want to talk to it with some other furries who want to listen.

Why people admit all the weird things they do nowadays, it's all in a pathetic scream for attention. So many thirteen year old girls today just try so hard to act unique and like they're so different, failing to realize that they're making a fool of themselves.

Wendigo, like you have said, if it wasn't for the creepy-ass furries who always try to make a scene of the furry fandom publicly, furries in general wouldn't oftentimes be looked down upon.
