She shook her head. "No. It doesn't work, it isn't meant to be." she said firmly, biting her lip. She would not allow herself to cry.

Terri looked down at John, and after a moment sat on his lap, arms around his neck, looking at Spike. "I think I may have broke him." She pouted. "He deserved it, he's weak." Spike said, leaning against the door frame, watching them.

John gulped, and shivered as she sat down on him. Why wasn't Terri being scary? She seemed perfectly normal right now.

Terri could have laughed at that, but instead she just bit John's neck, hard. "I saw that one coming." Spike remarked. "She likes to bite." He chomped his teath together to emphasise it.

Rachel turned a limp, blank gray, lying still on the table. She had stopped trying altogether. She was lost, she felt alone and far from home and these humans weren't letting her do her job, wasn't the point of existing to make people love each other?
