Hiro's eyes opened when he felt her muscles fully relax, one hand resting on his wings. He looked at the red and blue feathers scattered across the ground around them, picking one up and looking at it. After a few seconds, he reached up and tucked it behind her ear. The feather was sort of downy, giving her a somewhat childish look, with her face framed by the lighting.

As nightmares plagued my already troubled mind I writhed slightly before going still once more. Soft growls rumbled in my chest as if I were staring into the eyes of yet another white coat awaiting my fate. The dream was always the same but I hadn't had it in quite some time. It always ended the same way. They would tie me down and make me watch as they tortured each and every member of the flock until they begged for death. I would scream and beg but that never stopped them. They would cut off wings, sever limbs, and brutally beat everyone. Watching Hiro die was always the most painful. Everyone knew I had a soft spot for the young child and would give my life for him without hesitation. After enduring such mental torture I was jolted awake, my body tense and ready to attack. All of the fight was drained out of me however when I saw the flock was still around, with the exception of Riley who I planned on saving. Shaking slightly from the intense fear the dream always brought, I wrapped my large wings around myself and Hiro as if that alone would keep both of us safe. It wouldn't. Not until the school was burned to the ground along with every organization that associated with it. Even then, I probably wouldn't feel safe.

Hiro watched her silently, trying to calm her down. When she opened her eyes he looked into them. "We're okay," he whispered, reaching over to stroke her feathers softly. He laid his head back on her shoulder, wrapping his other arm around her.
