For your first question: She was trying to save Mousefur from the snake (The snake was going to bite her), (I think it's Mousefur, I haven't read the book in a long time. ) and got bitten by it. Leafpool couldn't do anything.

Yes, she and Berrynose did fall in love. They were just saying before Honeyfern died, something along these lines: "Someday our kits will be like that." (They were watching some kits.) (I forget, because as I said, I haven't read the book in a long time. xD
