How Harry Potter Should Have Ended.
If you have not yet seen this, your YouTube experience is horrendously lacking. Watch it and love it.

Potterhead talk:

So I took a few tests online to determine my patronus and I kept getting Phoenix as a result. This irked me. To me, a phoenix is one of those animals that you just can't have unless you're legendary. Like Dumbledore. His patronus should be a phoenix.

The same goes for dragons. I feel you shouldn't have a dragon patronus unless your personality SCREAMS dragon, ya know?

Does anyone else have those patronus animals that you feel are off limits? Or is it just me?

when i think of phoenix i think more of a person who is able to recover from unhappiness or sad events very quickly or who has all in all a rather strong personality or who can maybe cheer others up when it seems like no one else can. i don't think that person would necissarily have to be a hero or a legend. heroes and legends are just human as well anyway. ^^
and i don't like those quizzes that much really because they usually have a very limited amount of animals as options and often it's the patronuses the characters have in the books..

I believe my patronus has always come up as a wolf... I'd prefer a fox, but oh well.

Those who are on pottermore... what are your houses? I'm a Slytherin. :'3

Yeah, I'm starting to mistrust all online quizzes because I'm finding some that give all my friends the same result. I think a better way to place your house and your patronus is to have a Potterhead friend do it for you. But even then, you'd have to make sure they don't fall into the stereotypes (such as Hufflepuffs are weak, Ravenclaws are nerds and Slytherins are cruel) when they're picking a House and patronus for you...

[center] Hello all! ~

I feel when finding your patronous its best to try and see a reflection of yourself inside the animal :)
For example, I've always been very catlike and my personality is always been what I would think a large cats would be.

As for houses, I'm clearly a Slytherin. Although, when I take tests and they give me scores Gryffindor is always very close. But I agree, the stereo types of the houses bother me. Just because you are in Gryffindor doesn't mean you are the leader or the bravest. Wormtail was from Gryffindor and he was the biggest traitor. Many people say Hufflepuff is weak but Cedric was from their, and he was brave enough to win the tournament. Ravenclaws are said to be nerds, but they are also brave and trustworthy. Look at Luna, she had strange beliefs but she still fought. Slytherins are supposedly cruel, and some are, but many are just overshadowed because everyone focuses on their bad side. I actually sometimes agree with Snape favoring them, because lets be honest, who else would?

All im really trying to say is don't let the house stereo types decide where you belong:)

I am a Ravenclaw <3

That's what people tell me in real life and what also I got on Pottermore.

And it's really perfect because my two sisters got Hufflepuff and Slytherin, and our best friend got Gryffindor so there's one in each house :D

And also... Something I've never understood. Why do people always think Hufflepuff is the dumb house with no special talents? They are loyal and hard-working, aren't they? I mean, Cedric Diggory really wasn't that bad of a guy...

The gentler people are always automatically put in the "weak and dumb" category even if they don't belong there.

ambertiger wrote:I actually sometimes agree with Snape favoring them, because lets be honest, who else would?

I never thought of it that way. So true though! Kudos to Snape for sticking up for the black sheep of Hogwarts!
(I just had to add Snape to my spellchecker... What is wrong with this computer...)

I think houses are more based on a person's problem solving methods. Gryffindors face the problem head on, Slytherins keep their distance and look for a way to leverage the problem's weak spots, Ravenclaws analyze the problem to find the most logical way to tackle it and Hufflepuffs endure through the problem by helping each other along the best they can. Cedric is a fine example of this. Not only did he work through the tournament with bravery, but he helped Harry along the way as well.

i agree though i don't think it's all just about how to solve a problem; there's a lot more to that i think ^^
pottermore sorted me into ravenclaw and after that welcome thingy i even thought i'd fit there but i don't anymore. i'm not smart at all. really. [i just like books >.<] i think i'm actually hufflepuff and lately going a bit more direction gryffindor.. ^^
and i don't think necissarily friends have to tell you where you belong but also yourself. i think you have to know best where you belong, because you are the one who knows you best. ;D
