Frozenheart stood guard and waited for any noise. She was exhausted, but too terrified to sleep. She was new to the clan life and had joined as a loner. She had been attacked by dogs almost every night, giving her a sleeping disorder. Her worrying made her mean and nasty. She sighed, watching the empty river and the trees around her.
Leopard fur was still awake, but all the others were asleep. Her yowling distracted her for a single moment. Before she could think, a dog leaped on her, shaking and tearing.
