@Alice
Have your read the Inkheart trilogy by Cornelia Funke? They're YA fantasy and very good. It's about a girl who find out her father can make characters come to life by reading a book out loud.
Oh, and also the Septimus Heap series (first book is called Magyk) by Angie Sage. They're about a boy training to be a wizard. I really like the author's writing style and the characters are quirky and adorable.

I think I'll start with Miss Peregrine's tomorrow. But I definitely put those series on my to-read list. I hope my library has those books; I doubt I'll take more than a couple days to read the current ones.

I loved Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children. And the fact the photos are real photos always makes me shudder!

I loved Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children too! It was a fantasy story, but the pictures give it an eerie bit of realism. I thought the ending was really good, and more realistic than I'd expected.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was an amazing book! My mothers friend got it for me because he said I was peculiar so I read it and loved every word! I actually hate myself right now though because I let my friend borrowed it and she moved away!

    War stories, huh? Well, what kind of war books have you read previously? If you can give me an idea of what you like I can probably suggest some more.

    * * *

    And regarding the short Inkheart trilogy discussion, I read the first book and really didn't like it, but I've never talked to anyone else that didn't like it. Seems like it's the same here. :lol:

I'm on a semi-hiatus, but would be willing to come back
full time for a good RPG.
I'll look at anything, but I prefer
animals, and I won't do Hunger Games/Divergent, anything
supernatural, or anything where the main point is romance.
I've done Warrior cats and Camp Half-Blood RPGs quite a
few times, including hosting my own on another site, but I
would prefer not to do either of those RPGs again. I might
instead be interested in a Hogwarts RPG, or maybe something
based in WW1 or WW2. I'm probably semi-literate, but please,
nothing below that. (And I like RPing male characters, if
you're in need of any.)

So, have an RPG suggestion? Or maybe a trade? Or just
wanna message me? Please, don't hesitate! (;

I adored the first of the Inkheart books, but couldn't finish the others. A lot of times it's like that, I love the first book, but the sequels get progressively worse.

I also hate the inverse, where the first book is awful but the last one is awesome. I never have the patience.

Yeah, the third one was dragged out. I think she felt like she had to write a big long epic thing but she really didn't.

The worst example of this I know of is the Sea of Trolls trilogy. The first book was amazing. I adored it. I've read it three times, and would read it again. The second one, Land of the Silver Apples, was okay. I really disliked some aspects of it, but I had to know what happened at the end, so I read the third one, The Islands of the Blessed. It was pretty bad; I was extremely disappointed. I felt it was an awful wrap up to an amazing first book.
