@Alice
Yes, I looved the Kane Chronicles because I didn't know much anything about Egyptian Mythology beforehand, and it was very interesting. I agree, the ending did leave a little to be desired. The first two books were much better.

I hardly post here anymore...it's kinda sad. I don't get time to read as much.
But I just ordered three books yesterday, finally! One was Sonya Recovered, by....I can't remember who wrote it, but it's modern day and involved Hermes and Eros and some mortals. Hermes is my favorite Greek god...
And then I ordered the squeal to Touching Spirit Bear, which is called.....Ghost of Spirit Bear I think....
And I preordered House of Hades.....4 months early. :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Am I the only one here who isn't a big fan of YA?
Even back in middle school I just never was able to accept so much of the genre. :/

Yeah, I read Kane Chronicles. I actually liked the ending. It wasn't too bad of a cliff hanger.

And I can't wait for House of Hades. If you want to talk about a cliffhanger, Mark of Athena had one of the best I've ever read.

I usually read YA or classics. (I know, there's no correlation.) I think sometimes the YA books can get a bit... predictable. Still, they can be a nice break from Gatsby and Frankenstein. And they're easy reads, so I can read more in a small amount of time.

Not to sound like grumpy cat, but I hated Gatsby too. XD
My main problem with YA is that so many of the authors have awesome ideas that they then butcher by selling to the target audience. I loved the rebellion in the Hunger Games but I couldn't stand Katniss and her stupid, useless love triangle. I like the idea of Percy Jackson and other god-children, but the writing style and censorship of the mythos just kills me. Harry Potter would have been so awesome if I had been able to stand the overly simplistic writing style. :c I almost feel cursed as since a young age I've found something offputting in most YA.

Seriously, I hate Gatsby. We read it in class (though I'm sure I would have gotten around to reading it had we not) and my teacher tried to insist the entire time that he was a Christ figure. Eh, that book drove me nuts.

But I agree totally. Suzanne Collins had a brilliant idea with Hunger Games, but she ruined it trying to feed the fans and audience wants. It seems so many of those books are simplified to fit the under-intelligent rather than writing how the author wants. That's why I don't classify LotR and The Hobbit as YA books because they have too much depth.

I think I'll start with Miss Peregrine's tomorrow. But I definitely put those series on my to-read list. I hope my library has those books; I doubt I'll take more than a couple days to read the current ones.

I loved Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children. And the fact the photos are real photos always makes me shudder!

I mainly read them as a break from the classics. They're nice, quick, easy reads. Most are pretty bad and predictable, but every once in a while there's a real gem.

I've never read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, but I want to. I saw am online slideshow of the pictures, and they were very creepy!
