lexie is a female, for there are no brute indications on her feminine structure that lead to the conclusion that her gender is male. she is at the age of 3, or in dog terms 21. yes, she is indeed still very young. a young adult, if that is what you intend to call her. lexie is joyful and optimistic. she is very loving and sees the good in everyone. lexie is always very understanding and gentle. she will always laugh with someone, though never at someone. you may ask, why is such a friendly dog living on the streets? well, let me explain. poor lexie's old owners would beat her for misdoings that she never did. they blamed her for the sufferings in their life. they tied her up besides an old beat-up doghouse when she was only a puppy. they never let her off of that choking chain. they'd beat her with belts, and their kids would throw rocks at her. it wasn't until their neighbors found out what was going on when they let lexie off of the chain that was embedded into her neck from where the growth up from her puppy self into her adult self doubled her neck size, making the chain tighter and tighter as the months of torture rolled by. under that pretty coat of hers are scars from the many beatings, and under that smile of her lies pain and suffering. how is she so happy? how is she so kind to others, when she herself is scarred so badly from the mistreatment of others? that would be the knowledge of how no dog should go through what she had to. she would always be kind and understanding, because she knows the pain that other dogs have had to go through, and its cold-hearted to add onto their suffering altogether.

Bella turned her head and looked at the other dog, Drake. She smiled when he wagged his tail and barked. She barked back playfully and padded over to him. She turned her attention from her sad past to the playful dog in front of her. She bowed down to play and wagged her tail. She looked at him with her chocolate brown eyes, full of depression and despair. She tried to hide how she really felt.

⊱ Beau continued his boring little journey, following his wanting nose to whatever trash can it decided to go to. He was balanced precariously on yet another trash bin when he heard the effeminate voice calling his name. Needless to say, with only one eye to look at the world, he turned his head and toppled over off the thing, catching himself before he completely fell. He looked over at this female, noting the short yellow fur and normality of her. Nothing out of place. No missing limb or ear or eye... "Uh... Good day," he mumbled back. It was rare for him to say any sort of thing, unless it really was a good day to him.

This female had caught him in a particularly good mood. Even a smile was threatening to replace the permanent scowl he wore on his features, though nothing that good had happened in a long time. Haden. Suddenly the name clicked to the face. He had heard it somewhere before, had perhaps seen this dog from far-off, though he knew that he had never seen her up close and personal, which is probably why she had not run in terror with her tail tucked beneath her. That, or she was brave or naive. That seemed to be all she wanted from him, so he began to move off, his thick legs carrying him over the warm pavement at more of a swagger than a walk. She stopped him again when her voice reached his ears, and he turned to her, scowling.

"Not since the first one I found that had a hamburger in it," he said, about to turn away again and just leave her there, but something in her eyes caught him. She clearly needed food. That was not a guess Beau had to make. Every stray had the same issue - get food or starve. She was no different. He let out a heavy sigh from his big lungs, letting his regal shoulders fall. "I haven't stopped by my dumpster yet, but you can tag along if you wish." He emphasized my because, honestly, he considered it his. He had no sleeping place that he protected, no 'home,' but he had a dumpster that he marked and guarded with his life, chasing off unwanted companions. It was the perfect place to find food, by a restaurant that threw out their leftovers in it. There, he was in heaven, and that was his secret to keeping so much weight on. Had he ever shared it with another dog? No. But she seemed harmless, and he was wanting to help.
