Blanche watched the encounter, eyes inquisitive, yet fearful. She wasn't a dumb mare. In fact, she was quite the opposite. She knew that the scars littering the dun coat were signs of a bad fight, or several fights, which meant that he had faced off against another stallion. And that meant either his mares were taken and he could offer little protection to them, as he had lost a battle before, or he tried to snake mares, still making him weak, as he had nothing and clearly had not gained anything from trying to do so. Blanche kept her thoughts to herself, however, and was still watching as the Judge and Lily parted ways, reassuring each other that they would be company for an indefinite amount of time. Blanche stepped out of the stream in the direction of Judge, looking back at Lily for a moment and then pulling her gaze back to the stallion. "Why the scars?" she voiced softly, her blue eyes running over his solid frame, taking in every mark of imperfection. Her speaking was always awkward, too much of a loner to really understand how a conversation was supposed to go. She had her own marks, though they mostly sat on her flanks, scars of past stallions trying to steal her away from freedom or of predators sinking their teeth in, hoping to make her a meal. But Blanche liked life and clung to it, either running from danger or kicking it in the head.

Slews Verdict
Th run stallion, his golden coat finally drying in its natural glossy color, had turned his attention away from the mares for only a moment when he was addressed by a new voice.Quickly he turned to face its source, and saw it was the white mare that had been accompanying Lily,Blanche. She didnt even give a greeting, but went straight to the point. As she voiced her question Judge felt very aware of the obvious scars on his body.He thought for a second and wondered of he should be truthful in his response.Ultimately it would come out sometime ,so why lie now?"A young stallion, massive even in his youth, came along as I was tending to a mare about to foal.He cut all of the mares away a I fretted over the mare. When I realized I ran and fought my d•mndest to get them back. That stallion had me almost dead right there, and like a coward I did not lay my life down for those mares."His face became sorrowful involuntarily as he told the tale.

The slim white shoulders of the mare shrugged as she pulled her head up to look around him, marking the path where he had come from in silence. "Coward is dying," she stated simply. Her speech was broken and hard to follow, full of stutters and pauses, the tone of it nearly too low to gain anything out of it. "Brave is admitting you lost and saving your self." She put her ears up on her head, adjusting her legs underneath her so she now stood completely out of the water, the tail swishing behind her. "Not all battles can be won. No use blaming you." She pulled her gaze back to his own eyes, a moment of bravery that called her to look into them, to try and find what he was hiding. They were dark, not in the sense of being evil, but dark just the same, and Blanche had trouble getting anything from anyone as it was. It was hard for her to understand other's emotions when what she felt was mostly fear. Fear of the world. Did that make her a coward? Perhaps this stallion would think so, but if Blanche was faced with a foe and couldn't run, she would fight to her death. She just knew that for a mare, it was easier to run away. "Mares are okay," she said finally, meaning that the horses he had left behind from his previous herd were most likely fine, due to the other stallion's protection. And then she pulled her head back down and bit at some more grass.

I had only been grazing for a few moments when Blanche spoke up, which was quite unusual as she tended to be my shadow more often then not. My eyes lingered on Blanche as she asked her question before directing them over to judge, it was an interesting question and his answer would also be no doubt. So as he spoke of his fight my eyes, starting from his hooves, go up and down him looking at all of his scars that just littered his body. They especially glowed on his stomach where his coat was the most golden. I had my fair share of scars from always defying anyone who would challenge me, and since I am such a hard head it tended to be often from both mares and stallions. But I can say for a fact that they also now have a fair share of scars. I was in fact happy that he told us what seemed to be the truth, as it is not always easy to admit your failures, I should know, so I offer him a simple nod, as I still reserved judgement till his words could be proved trust worthy. Joining Blanche, i stand beside and and graze occasionally looking up at the stallion to just watch. With a soft quiet whisper i ask Blanche, "What do yo think of him?" as i was curious if she was okay with his presence since i had kind of made this decision without asking her.

The stallion stopped. Ah, there she was. He could hear her calls. He broke into a slow canter, in no rush to get to her. As he came to the crest of the hill he saw her. She was a pretty mare with a gray-speckled sabino coat. He watched her for a moment, then quickly moved, trying to back her path to where the other stallion was."Hello." he greeted her curtly, but not without a polite dip of the head.

A sudden longing for company struck Caprice. The mare was surprised. Normally she was pretty independent but she had been on her own for quite awhile. Still, her stubbornness prevented her from seeking out company. The mare lowered her head again, stretching her neck to reach the sweetest clovers

Blanche's words, though spoken in broken words, rang true.It was braver to leave and save himself, making it easier on the mares if he was alive and not dead.It was he who could not come to terms with things when a stranger could point it out in black and white."Thank you."he stated softly. The big dun stallion allowed the white to gaze into his eyes, knowing that it wouldn't be easy to read.Judge closed off after the snaking, assuring that nobody he did not know well could get in and manipulate him in any ways.He too exited the water and looked to Lily who had now came over to Blanche's side.
Hollywood Hicktown
Spade threw out a suggestion, and still feeling slight uneasy in this area Hicktown said agreed relatively quickly."It sounds like a good idea."Still,it would be sort of different to be following a stallion wherever they traveled.Turning a curious eye to the mountains the mare almost fully agreed with the idea, and not just because she could think of no other option. It was a good strategy to be up where some horses could not go.Still she was apprehensive as she had never climbed more than a little hill before.

Blanche gave him one last glance and statement before Lily had made her way over. "Hard to see after you lost everything," she mumbled, speaking from her own experience. It was easy to get bogged down with everything that was taken from you - a herd of horses that loved being in your company or the endless freedom of running for miles on end. And then Lily was there, grazing beside her, black and white mares contrasting one another against the bright green background that spring provided. Even with the stench of heat that was coming off of both of them, this stallion remained sane and had chosen not to try and force them onto his side. A voice tickled her ear. What do you think of him? It was the first time she had been asked her opinion of something. "Brave stallion," she said just as quietly. "Strong, but smart enough to know." To know what would be most horses' question, but Blanche would have answered that with a shrug of her shoulders while she looked away at the blue sky. To her, that was enough. To know. "Okay," was the final word she spoke before lifting her head, ears shifting, nostrils flaring, making sure that no danger was racing toward them. A few other horses were scattered through the sprawling plain, but far enough away that Blanche felt no discomfort by them. And quite suddenly and without any warning, Blanche took off. Her legs yearned to get moving, having stood far too long in one place, nipping at the grass while checking for danger. But now two sets of eyes were watching for her, and she felt safe enough to have fun. She let out a loud whinny (well, loud for her, anyway), and picked up speed, her mane and tail streaming out behind her. Faster, faster, faster. Blanche began to turn, however, when she felt she was straying too far, and made a wide circle around her two companions.

Blanche was right, he seemed brave enough and strong enough to survive, but the fact that he left his mares discomforted me. Sure he ran away to save his own life and his old mare are probably safe, but he left them without giving a good fight for them, which made me feel a little uncomfortable being one of his mares. Thankfully for now I wasn't, but personally I would rather have a stallion that would fight til the end for his herd which I wold do to keep my stallion. "I think we could do better," I say towards her, but it probably slipped from her ear as she took off in a fast pace. She only ever does this when she feels comfortable and safe so with a smile i rear up and charge after her, it took a little bit of effort to catch up with her, but soon we cantered side by side. Black and white painted on the green grass and bright blue sky, yin and yang. Even though we were different in many ways we worked together, so picking up my pace slightly i take the lead hoping to challenge her a bit. Though I know very well she could beat me in any race, but I could win any fight.

.: Unpredictable Mystery :.
The mare looked the bat stallion of as she watched him submerged from the top of the hill. Mystery's ears poked foreword as he came down the grassy, damp hill. The gentle wind blew through her black and brown mane. "Hello" the specked mare uttered to the stallion. " I'm Unpredictable Mystery, but you may call me Mystery. " she wanted to make sure he knew her whole name. "Who am I speaking to?" Mystery took a few steps foreword as she asked her question.

Slews Verdict
Judge felt the pang of longing again once more as he further thought of his mares.Six of them, all varying colors of dapples and greys to the darkest blacks. There were varying sizes as well, one mare in particular matched him in stature, but was slender and sleek like a cat.Her coat a light chestnut, little black dapples dotting the edges at the top of her long, slender legs. She had two white stockings on her legs, one in the front and one in the back. For the other two legs she had two black stockings, once again one in the front and one in the back.A sleek and dished face hinted at Arabian lineage. Her mane was a graphite color,a very soft black, white. Her tail was the same soft black at the dock, but faded into a dazzling white in the skirt.
This mare was the one he had claimed as his lead mare, and one he had once promised to protect with his life.Judge's eyes watered as he remembered her fierce protests and attempts to steer the mare's back as he battled the stallion.Once again he let not just himself down, but the one he cared the most for.Maybe it was better, then,as first Blanche and then Lily took off.Maybe he should just leave so he would not hurt any mare anymore. It would mean breaking a deal, but it seemed neither were to keen on his being around.-
If anyone cares that is the reference I used to describe her from.-
