Got some adorable pics yesterday, and a funny story from last night. I'll post them in a bit, my phones acting up.

Yeah, about 2-3 years. My rats are about one year, and we had their birthday party not that long ago (Jan. 8). Can't wait to see the photos!

No, but I wish I could! I need to look into it, some 4H groups allow rats to be shown and if mine does I may join with my boys. (Though Baze's coloring is a mismark... Not sure if that would affect anything.)

Wish I could too <3 I'm pretty sure markings do count though, since the judges don't have to judge each specific breed I'd imagine they're pretty darn important.

if you have a general small animals judge, chances are they wont know they are mismarkings.. 4h judging tends to be on how well the animal is cared for and your knowledge of the species (in my county they can ask you pretty much whatever)

Good, I hope that's how mine is. (If they even allow rats... I haven't checked.) I don't think it should matter really. I mean Baze is such a adorable little guy, and he is beyond sweet. So what of his Dalmatian markings are only on his head and he has a stripe down his back.

for small animals, most counties do not bother with individual species judges because they may have 1 ferret, 1 rat, a hamster, a gerbil and a prairie dog in the same class

I'm the proud owner of 7 ratties.
I have 3 males, Percy, Pedro and Peachy who I have adoptred from a guy who was leaving to uni and couldn't keep them I've had them 3 months now and they're really sweet and friendly! They fight a little bit, but not seriously. No bites or bleeding, the males are i guess just fighting for 'top dog' or rat, in this case.
I also have 4 females, who are roughly 1 year and 6 months called Bella-Donna, Bluebell, Bramble and Begonia. All B's! They're really tiny for rats, I mean I have had rats before these lot and they were really big, but these ones are almost 1/3 the size of my boys.
Previously, I have had: Violet, Lavender, Daisy, Honey-suckle(Honey), Chewy and Ratatoulie! Chewy Lived to at least 4 years, with me, but he was full-grown when I got him. Violet was my fav, we had this special bond that i havn't shared with her sisters or another rat since! She died over a year ago now, but i really miss her.

I found this post a while back, and just recently got my rats, Pandora and Lucy.
Pandora, is an absolute sweetheart, with dumbo ears, a black back and a white stomach, she enjoys yogurt and sitting on your shoulder.
Lucy, is an escape artist, with a Rex coat, an Agouti hood, and a white back, she enjoys Cheerio's and climbing around your neck.
They were born on May 1st

I have a rat! :3 I got her on my birthday a few months ago, her name is TinkerBell { Her nicknames are - Tonker - Taco and TB } She's about 5 months now..She's growing up so fast!

I'm going to buy another little girl that's black and white, and name her Orea so my Tinker will have a buddy to play with ( Besides me when I take her out to walk her around my room, yes, I'm serious about it c: ) I do let her play in her ball or if she wants I'll put her in her little sweater and let her walk around with her leash ( Why I have the leash is so that she doesn't scamper away from me, I'm not as quick as she is! )

I'm really upset :( . My rat, Mari, has patches of furless skin. I'm so worried she might have mites or something. I'm taking her to the vet soon if it doesn't go away. Wish me luck.
