Halolani sat by the window and looked out over the rolling landscape. She sighed and watched the horses romp across their fields. They were ordinary horses and varying browns and whites. They romped ordinary. All that she could see was ordinary. Ordinary was a good thing, in Halolani's opinion. The only thing that was not ordinary was what Halolani could not see: herself. Something had awoken in her when that small small gang of "performers," whose tricks were often pushing the boundaries lawful, had arrived and offered her mistress a spot in their troop. Halolani knew her mistress would remove her crown, dawn servant clothing, and sneak out that night. What Halolani did not know was whether she would follow.
