Ancient Cultures Special #1- Ancient Greece

Postby SerenWish » Tue May 14, 2013 4:26 pm

Ah! So, finally I can release these, after I’ve teased and talked about them far too much! It’s midnight now, so technically it’s the 14th, so I figured I’d just put up the first one to make sure there wasn’t any questions.
Here is # 1 in my “Ancient Cultures” series- Ancient Greece! These ponies are all based on ancient cultures- their customs, history, and myths. Each one is special, for more reasons then just appearance!

-All of the ponies are based on a different culture.
-They all come in unusual colors and/or patterns.
- All of them have a special accessory.
-They are all customizable- you can have painted markings (like glyphs, etc.) added if you win them, all you have to do is ask!
- All of these ponies can pass down accessories to their foals! Not just the ones you see either!

In order to win this fella, just fill out the form! I will be judging on effort in the creative area, interesting names, and of course, correct answers in the trivia portion! Don’t worry if you aren’t sure of the answers, correct answers boost your likelihood of winning him, but a good creative piece goes just as well.

This stallion’s foals can have: Laurel Wreath, Symbolic Olympian Medal, or Armor Greaves! (Some accessories might cost a bit extra to get, depending on how difficult they are.)

In the Pegasus myth, the hero who tames Pegasus must use a magical silver bridle. I want you to design a special bridle for this stallion now! It can look however you want- you can describe it in words, or in a picture, or both! Effort and creativity are a big part of this… and the winner can have their bridle equipped to this stallion! The bridle must be of your OWN DESIGN, and you need to write out what it's like or draw it!

Description/Picture of Bridle:
Trojan's bridle would have a bright gold base. Engraved onto the nose band is a little picture of the Trojan horse, (that he did himself, so it isnt very good), something he admired when he was young. The throat lash would have precious gems dotted along it; there would be rubies, opals, emeralds and every other kind. There is no bit. When the reins are changed into different positions, there is a signal that sends through to Trojan. He then knows exactly what to do. On his nose, there is a charm. It shines when there is something unusual near him. Something that indicates danger.

Okay apparently I wasn't clear enough.... the bridle must be OF YOUR OWN DESIGN. You create it. The first picture is a picture of pegasus off the internet. The second piece has to be written/drawn/both by you, describing the bridle you'd make for this stallion, the Shetland, not Pegasus. Make sense? It's a special bridle you design for him. :3

Trivia:

What is the name of the hero who tamed Pegasus?
PEGASOS (or Pegasus) was an immortal, winged horse which sprang forth from the neck of Medousa when she was beheaded by the hero Perseus. Pegasos was tamed by Bellerophon, a Korinthian hero, who rode him into battle against the fire-breathing Khimaira. Later, after the hero attempted to fly to heaven, the gods caused the horse to buck, throwing him back down to earth. Pegasos continued to wing its way to heaven where it took a place in the stables of Zeus.

The horse was also placed amongst the stars as a constellation, whose rising marked the arrival of the warmer weather of spring and seasonal rainstorms. As such he was often named thunderbolt-bearer of Zeus. In the constellation myths, Pegasos ("Springing Forth") may have represented the blooming of spring whilst Khimaira ("Frosty Air" ?) (perhaps winter-rising Capricorn) was the cold chill of winter.

What was the monster that Pegasus and the hero fought called?
It was called Chimera

Who were Pegasus’s “parents” (or where did he come from?)
Pegasus, the winged horse didn't have any parents. When Perseus cut off Medusa's head, Pegasus came out of her body.
( you kinda have to know the whole story to understand why persues cut of medusas head lol)
