Rats can get tumors at any age. Normally though, they get them when they're older. Rats normally get Benign Tumors. How old is Mouse? If you can find a reputable vet, surgery should be no problem. Some people actually spay/neuter their rat, so removing a tumor shouldn't be so difficult.
You can always search online for information.
Tumor InfoRat lumpsHeres some info, I hope this helps.
MY one rat has what appears to be a tumor. She's a patchwork hairless who is going on 2 years old in july. She was never spayed.
I hope the info above helps.

Thanks.
He's only a baby (ish) predicting he's about 8-9 weeks old now, but I really don't know.
Sadly the best vet in my area is the vet I take them too. They will not do surgery on rats because they will not risk sedating them so they will not remove tumors or spay/neuter them.
This is the weird thing, I had him out yesterday, he had no lump and in 24 hours it's appeared and is about 1cm in size. There's no wound, I thought that he could had got bitten but there was nothing. I think it's either a tumor or a abscess but I am not 100% sure what both feel like. I didn't poke around with Pablo (my old rat)'s tumor because he didn't really like it and I didn't want to hurt him. I am hoping it's an abscess though.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

Try finding a vet that can do rats. If not, your best bet is to watch mouse. if its an abscess it will eventually drain, however, it could get worse.
info on abscesses and what you can do-search Treatment for treatments^ has good information
hope this helps.

Hey, my friend has something odd going on with one of his rats.
his descriptions wrote:ash has like this little piece of skin(?) hanging almost in front of his flank and it's kinda bald there like the fur was all parted from it.
okay, well you can definitely tell it's bald there but his fur in front of it covers it slightly and the thing kind of looks like a dried up dog booger, long and kinda tannish with a somewhat darker end
I don't really know what to make of that. Anyone here have an idea on what might be up with him?

Took my girls into the empty room in my house to let them play around for a while yesterday. Tehya was petrified and hated it, so she just hid in my legs. Eventually I just brought her back up to my room. Delilah LOVED it though, she was running/hopping around and hiding and messing around in the curtains and just having a blast being able to run around. I'm now starting to make some obstacles and toys she can play with next time. xD

Am so releived, turned out Mouse had an abscess on his neck. I i hadn't got around to taking Mouse to the vets due to work ect but was planning to phone however it popes last night so I don't think he will need to go to the vets as I know what it is now. He should be fine as long as I keep it clean.

^ Keep in mind you may have to squeeze more ick out of it if it was just a mere abscess. I had to with my boy Oliver.
Also, sad decision for me. I'm dropping both my fawn & merle lines. JUST for now, though.
I'm going to work on my russian blues and potent. dark mink instead. My rbs are coming along wonderfully ^^

Hey guys, need some help.
There is a amazing artist on facebook willing to do art of rats for free. I need help deciding which picture to send to her. (Either way I have rattie pics, so even if you dont care which I should send lol) The last three are the ones taken today, the others were taken a couple weeks ago.

(Thinking of sending this one^)

(Or this one^)

(Then maybe this one for Bug^)

If she's drawing the rat in the pose of the picture you send her, I'd send the first one and the last one. If she just needs references for markings I would honestly send her all of them. Being an artist myself, I know when it comes to drawing real life animals having as many references as possible makes all the difference in the accuracy of the drawing.
