New Oekaki forum idea - Private colorables

I have noticed something pretty interesting cropping up around the Oekaki forums. What with so many new and amazing species our users are inventing, some owners of these species have created “Gift lines” that are available only to JBD, or Shinnox, or WOI, etc. owners. This great, but I ‘ve noticed a few problems cropping up. Not problems, really, just annoyances.

It’s WHERE the users post their color-ins that bugs me. If someone makes a drawing of their JBD in intermediate, and then adds people to the color-in list without making a new version of the color-able in sketches, everyone who colors it posts in intermediate by default! They can choose where to post, of course, but many people forget to. And then, they’re using someone else’s lines in the intermediate forum. Even if they credit the maker of the lines, It’s still not ideal. The same issue crops up in sketches/experiments. Not quite as annoying, because of the nature of that forum, but could still be corrected.

You made a special forum for 1x1 roleplays, so why not an invite-only oekaki forum? It would save us all a bit of confusion, and make dedicated gift line easier to find on a species-by-species basis. It would be exactly like editable-oekaki, but by permission only. All color-ins would go into their own “Invite colored in” forum, or just regular colored in. but regular colored-in would be mildly annoying as well, as anyone browsing that forum would see an amazing wolf-color in and click on it – only to be told they need to own a WOI first.

Anyway, I hope this idea could solve some confusion and make coloring your adopted species easier.


EDIT: While we're at it, can we code it so that I can add 100+ people at once to my gift lines? It's very tedious to add so many owners separately as they ask, and if I could simply use, say, the JBD archives, and grab a list of owners, I could solve that easily, without spending an hour or so inputting usernames one by one!

I support this for sure. It'd really be great to have a forum specifically for gift lines, instead of having them clutter up the other boards.

Post 'private linearts' in the Adoptable oekaki, and the original artist can add the names of users they want to be able to access the lines, and the colored-in will go into the Created Pets board.

That works too, I guess. But it doesn't seem like the kind of thing a lot of users would do. I don't think that they will want to post there.

And I'm back lobbying for this idea.
I fact, if you create this forum and give me temporary permission, I will personally scour the forums and move every private lineart and color-in I can find.
I do not say this lightly, as I'm sure it would be a ginormous task.

But I'm also fine with the adoptable forum alternative.

I've been searching for something about this for about an hour now before I posted something similar ^^

I absolutely support this and although it could be posted in adoptable oekaki, some people may mistake them for a copy cat of the species (some people really don't read the information on the page, I know this definitely :I) and accuse the artist of copying or become upset when they can't adopt. It would be an extremely time-consuming task though; but I believe once it's done, it would be so much easier than always having to move people's stuff to colored-in ^^ I saw somewhere that Tess was not planning on adding any other oekaki forums, though this was in response to an "expert" oekaki forum, so I'm not sure if that still applies.

I'm surprised not more people have seen this, as it's a pretty annoying thing to see all those color-ins floating around the regular forums. It's also really hard to remember to not post it yet, to go over into colored-in to post it. I've done this on several occasions just because it was very hard for me to remember :I

I support this 100% Berkshire. It's been on my mind as well, and it's great that you've brought this to attention, as it does appear spammy to me. Also, there are enough gift-lines out there to make it its own forum, so their certainly isn't an issue of whether or not it will be used often enough. Also, people can find gift-lines easier by only searching one forum, rather than 2 or 3. Great idea that I think should be put into action!

I definitely support this, as it will reduce spam and refrain from so many beautiful giftlines in sketches and experiments.
