[Chii-sai]

Kiara's pregnancy had been a rough one. Never in Rafiki's years had he heard of a lioness in so much pain for the entire duration. This was quite distressing to her family- The old queen, Nala, never left her daughters side, even with the arrival of her own son, Thelu (Lucky for Nala, her younger brothers mate, Mata, was expecting and was able to keep an eye on little Thelu for her).

Kiara's pregnancy came to an end earlier than expected, much to her discomfort, and Rafiki immediately separated the young queen from the rest of the pride- she rested under his tree in a birthing cave where many kings and queens had been born. Kiara was kept from the pride, her mother being the only exception, for weeks, and although Nala brought back good news about Kovu's heir, she refused to tell him whether he got a prince or princess.

Finally, the young king of the Pridelands was allowed to see his mate again.

He nervously entered the cave as the sun began to rise on a new day, his tail twitching uneasily. He had missed Kiara and almost went against Rafiki's orders.

"Oh Kovu." A whisper in the dark made Kovu's ears bounce up, his green eyes gazing into orange lit cave.

"Kiara?!" He raced forward toward her bright red eyes, his heart racing, "I've missed you so much!"

Kiara's forehead met his gently, nuzzling feverishly, "I've been so worried about you."

"You've been worried about me?" He questioned, pulling away in surprise, "How do you think I felt?! A-And where is he... she?"

With a dazzling smile, Kiara removed a paw and there, nuzzling into her chest, were two little cubs. They both looked healthy, and one even had its' bright red eyes open.

"They're perfect..." He breathed, "Girls..?"

"Yes." Kiara murmured, gently nudging the darker one.

"Is that one.. white?" He wondered aloud, looking down at the one who was still asleep.

"Pretty, isn't she? I was thinking Nyuepe..." Kiara said, looking up at Kovu, "But I haven't really thought about the other one. She's the eldest."

At that moment, the little tawny cub let out a chirp of anger as she found herself caught between her sister and her mother.

"Sounds like a little shrew doesn't she?" Kiara chuckled, her paw massaging her daughter, "She's always been a talker."

"Well.. what about Kirukanjia? That's shrew..." Kovu suggested.

"A bit long, don't you think?" Kiara wondered.

"We can always call her Kanjia for short. Or Kanji?" Kovu mumbled,coming to Kiara's side.

"Nyuepe and Kanji... perfect."
