Hey guys! How is everyone doing? I just finished finals and I'm glad to have hours of writing time!

Ahem. And I kinda want to bump this thread...

How lucky you are! xD
I wish I was finished too *siiiigh* And I should definitely learn to say "no" once in a while. I swear, sometimes I'm taking on a little too much. And I also applied at the RP school just because xD what was that about taking on too much?

Thanks for bumping the thread. It looked so depressingly dead.

So what is everyone up to? Any projects you're tossing around? Anything new you've discovered about writing?

I've been trying to write poetry. It's not going well. Also, how do you guys keep track of complex plots, with fake-outs and confusion and lying by the characters? I'm having a bit of difficulty keeping one of my projects straight in my head. xD

{ @arty: i am what is called a "pantser". i get my plot and just go with it, little to no structure involved. then i go back through and add in all the plot twists. i know it's wierd, but that's how i write c;

@everyone: ughhh. so busy. no time to write. i don't even know if i'll be able to do nano this year... and it makes me sad.

I'm trying very hard to learn how to just write without being a constantly-editing control freak and THEN edit once I finish the story. It's soooo hard for me, but I know that that's why I've never finished a story -- I just get fed up of editing even though I don't really realize that and just think I lost interest when really I'm just fed up with the editing which is making it not fun. - BREATH - Old habits die hard...

I hope you don't mind me making a form. ^-^
Username:
Hai. :3 I am Legolas~Greenleaf in plain font.
Nickname:
Most people just call me Legolas or Cat. :3
Writing Preferences (Poet, Novelist, roleplayer...) :
Well... I enjoy various styles of writing. I do roleplays, and consider myself high semi-lit/low literate. I also enjoy writing poems and occasionally I write the odd original story. Fanfictions are another preference of mine.
Example (Can be anything; must be a good length) :
Edit (May 25) lol, sorry for the edit but I'm just sticking my best fanfiction story link here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8927990/1/Spring-Awakening
Unfinished, about four thousand words....

Links to stories / roleplays:

Here is my FFN profile.
In my sig, as well, if you click the stamp that reads "Proud LOTR RPer" it should lead to the RP I am currently participating in.
Other:
Thank you. :3

Apologies for the edits. I just want to make sure this follows all rules. ^-^;

I've honestly just gotten through picking apart so many poems for my English class that I could cry. ;-; Never again will I voice that poetry is a good end of the year assignment because I just hate, really really hate, picking things apart to find the meaning, Well, more like I hate finding every damn literary device in one piece and explaining what it's there. This is the end of the year and I'm suppose to do lazy work, not analyzing stuff that you aren't even gonna grade. Ugh.

And I'm currently going to write some other things with a pair of twins that I've used before! :D I keep having people ask me to write more about them and I'm going to die trying since no one has been this interested in my writing before. Plus, I'm attempting writing a more mature novel rather than the jumbled fantasy mess I had going on for awhile.

Oh, and about keeping plots in order, I wish I knew the magical way for that to happen, but just learn to be great at organizing. Usually, I keep a word document with all of my ideas bulleted and organized in chronological order with a word pad document for miscellaneous ideas. I do the same for roleplays or create a huge paragraph with all of the ideas in a chronological order in which they would happen.

@Rose: Sounds like it could be good! Sounds like a popcorn book though, the kind that you read to entertain yourself with not a lot of deep themes and artistic whatnot. Could be wrong, and it still seems like fun. :3 How far have you gotten into it? Planning, first few chapters, a ways in?

@Glassea: I've done some of that! I plant minor clues, but not the plot twists. It works pretty well, but still, the overall structure can get muddled. :(

@Zuchi: I haven't tried the bullet points one. I should poke it into an outline some time, see if that helps. ^-^ Thanks! As to the poems, my sympathies. D: Poetry is something that should be savoured, not be subject to forced dissection. Sure, you learn a lot, but usually the beauty of the poem dies on the operating table.
