Rarity issues with Very Rare Rarity Tag

well what i am thinking is all list pets have this SR rarity, because almost no VR will ever become OMGSR, unless they are UR pets

The Rares List isn't official (it's just really well-known and made by experienced users), so even if the VR tag was split, I'm pretty sure the rarities won't be assigned like that ^^;

What would the new tag be called, by the way? Apparently, you guys are seeing "super rare" as between VR and OMGSR, but when I see "super rare", I think that it's between VR and uncommon...

I have to admit that I like the way the rarities are set up right now. It's nice and symmetrical and pretty clear-cut label-wise (aka without the colored bars) ^__^

Not much to say just yet; I want to see what others say before forming a firm opinion since I feel like there's another stronger downside to this (I just don't know what).

Nick and Tess should check if 50/50 split would be the best solution (split very rare into the upper and lower 50% of the rarity), or if an other solution (like 25/75) would fit even better here... The more specific the new rarity tag is, the better it is in order to show, that this is a very valuable pet!

I agree... The solution should be worked out without having a look on the old values... We only want to split this rarity to make clear what are they worth... The gab between VR and OMGSR is just way too big... (See my post above this one).

Super rare sounds a bit strange to me. We should work something else out here. Very very rare fits better, but sounds strange as well and could be misunderstand with VR (someone said that before). Any suggestions?!

True, very true. I still think super rare is okay, but if not, i like deluxe rare.

Deluxe Rare sounds fine to me.
I like the idea, however if the goal is to somehow make this easier or clearer on how trades vs the rares list works, I'm going to tell you, it's probably not going to happen.

There are some pets on that list that are really rare, yes but some are there on "the list" simply by popularity and what players are willing to pay to get them.

Off the top of my head, I know the "Good PPS" was simply rare for a very long time, yet it was on the "rares list" along with some of the rarest pets in the game. Why? Because players were okay with giving up their Very Rare old pets for something that looked awesome. Black Advent is another good example. It has the very same rarity and release amount as its litter mates, yet due to popularity it's far above any of its littermates.

Grinners are on "the list" because we were only allowed to adopt two and there were 6 outcomes, yet both St patricks dogs that came out before the grinners and everyone was allowed only one is no where near the list.

Why? Because the grinners are cute. People are more willing to give up a grown dog that's colored green far faster than a dog with lineart edits.

In short, this will not clear anything up as far as the list is concerned. Just like the "rare Malk draft" issue, giving pets more markers will not make trading list pets any easier to understand. There are tons of pets out there that are really really rare and hard to find but won't make a 'blip' on any list or get noticed because it's just not popular enough for people to pay it's "true value"

What about the July spotted rats? Those were among some of the first non UR pets to go OMG so rare, yet you'd be lucky if someone gave you a sept list for it. By pure rarity alone, it should be easily swappable with some of the other OMGSR like a sun jewel but that's just not possible in this virtual economy. It flat out does not work which is why we have the list in the first place.

That said, I fully support more markers in an effort to make general trading by rarity alone easier.

There's already one in the works :3 (speaking of which, someone should really start up that discussion again... it's been over a month...)

Wait, guys. We shouldn't start getting into the nitty gritty of it just yet. Someone should PM an admin assistant or mod to pass it on to Tess and Nick. Then, once we get the green light, we can work out details.
