@ Snow- You probably should have an altar, but (and this is from my own experience) you can perform rituals without an altar. Its one of those things you decide on your own. Much like whether you're going to join a coven or go it alone. The rituals are more about belief, than anything else. It's like saying you have to pray for Jesus in a church. XD

@ Songa- Be very careful playing around with herbs and spices if you're just starting out. I know of a few New-Age stores in my town you can to for help with herbs if that's a route you want to try. Because you're suffering from depression, I personally would recommend try Onyx stones and Jet Stones. The onyx creates a protective "barrier" around you, and the Jet aborbs negative energies. Clear quartz will help amplify their effects. If you need help sleeping, try amethyst.

@ Smiley- Sad days! I remember when I started my family thought I was satanic. XD But they never touched my stuff. To be honest with you, if someone threw away my book of shadows I would go dumpster diving, and then I'd have a chat with that person. I know it's gotta be rough with your mom not caring, but don't give up! It'll be hard to start over if that is what you end up doing, but it is possible. Some Wiccans create more than one book of shadows through their lives, (stages, maiden, mother, crone) sort of like the Mother. If you need any help, please don't be afraid to ask for it.

Umm... Can I put this in my book of shadows? I'm new to wicca and I kinda have nothing in it.

Sure thing, I mean, I did, and I only found it in a book.

P.S. I recently got a new book that gives you tips and ideas for making your own spells, as well as a bunch of other stuff. I currently forget what it is called.

I found a nice little chant you can do before you sleep, it's what helped me find my spirit animal;

Do you have to put some energy and belief towards it [or some sort of spell], or do you just have to say it?

I just cant it before I fall asleep, and sometimes put a few crystals (ones like Jade, that help with strengthening dreams, etc...) under my pillow.

I think this may have triggered a dream about a mother black bear the night it was origionaly posted, I wish I hadn't been so over tired.I t would have been a wonderfull opertunity as for many years I have only ever encountered tempory guides.

First night I used the chant:
I had a terrible dream about a medieval custom that we had to follow in the family. And there was an animal behind me all the time. It was a feline, or a mouse of some sort. We kept running from my home, but I kept transporting back to where I had started, but every time I got tired or fell, she'd push me back up to my feet and tell me to keep running. Don't know what sort of animal it was besides guesses. She always blended into the background, so she might be a darker colored animal of some sort.

And my friend thinks that her spirit animal is a dog AND a cat, but that's only because she took a quiz online to find out what her personality was in animal form. she took loads of tests and got cat, wolf, lion, or dog every time. So she's seriously convinced that her spirit animal is a dog and a cat.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if it could be possible if I could join up? I've never considered myself a true Wiccan, but I am a Spiritualist, and I believe in a lot of the same things as you can seem to. ^_^

** Oh and if you're unsure what Spiritualism is, it's basically a belief surrounding mediumism.

Not all of us are Wiccan- some, like me, are other types of pagan, others have different paths, so you should fit right in. We really do have a broad range of people here.

Comments of any sort?: Does anyone know what happens when you familiar passes on? Is it possible that they could be reincarnated? It took me a long while to find him, and he was quite old. It was obvious that he was my familiar, and when I asked him, he confirmed it. I've tried to reach his spirit to see where he is, but I have had no luck.

Welcom! An yeah, I think its possible for a familar to be reincarnated, though I have not properly bonded with a familar before I have met creatures I knew once before.

I can't really remember the dream when I used the chant..

I already know my spirit naimals, but it's so hard to reach them..I'm starting to fear my neglecting is beginnign to affect them too. I love Rama with my entire being, when I try ot speak to her I loose focus and try ot focus on her (She always says to focus on her eyes when I start to drift on other things). It's just so hard to concentrate and her image becomes blurry and sometimes I just fall asleep. I really needh elp with that, Recenetly I just got Pink Aventurine and Ridothictorne (<- Yeah I kind of frogto the whole term..it's the stone that helps with broken hearts and stuff)...what could I use to help me with that?
